Nic & Mike’s DIY Vintage, Tattooed, Tea-stained Wedding [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Today I bring a spectacular wedding from Assassynation – a photographer who also  loves a bit of ink!

Nic and Mike got married back in June this year and everything was DIY! After exchanging vows at Exeter registry office and some fantastic photos – they held their reception in their own back garden which included handmade cupcakes!

Nic owns her own business – Songbird Tattoo where she specialises  in blackwork, dotwork and mehndi styles..
Just look at their tattoos – they’re so beautiful! (Nic also designed Mike’s tattoos!)

Nic’s dress was from Unique Vintage & was very white when it arrived, to which Nic then decided to stain in Earl Gray and coffee which later happened to her House of Fraser bolero! From the top of her handcrafted brooch headpiece down to her Irregular Choice shoes (which were the first item to be purchased!), Nic looked fabulous in 50s vintage and made an utterly beautiful tattooed bride and such a cute tattooed couple too! And they have an owl cushion!!

(Kat at Rock n Roll Bride also featured this wedding in June.. You can see her write up here)

Be sure to leave Sassy some praise and some love to Nic & Mike below!

A Rustic Woodland Engagement Shoot [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Clare & Dave’s rustic woodland engagement shoot at The Hollies – Toast Of Leeds

When this arrived in my inbox last month from Shelly from Toast Of Leeds I was in awe at how awesome this shoot was!

Check it out:

“Try as might to convince them otherwise, Clare and Dave absolutely insisted that their pre-wed shoot should take place at The Hollies in Leeds.

I wanted to shoot in Dave’s fabulous tattoo studio, The Black Crown, where I’ve shot before but they were having none of it. The Black Crown is a beautiful studio – gorgeous ink on the walls, full of eclectic bits and bobs – the last time I went there was a unicycle in one corner! However, undeterred, I met them both at The Hollies in Headingley, Leeds. This is where the two of them had their second date, eating strawberries on the little bridge and falling head over heels in love. How could I say no?

So with the sun shining and our spirits high, we spent the morning slipping in the mud, saying hello to strange dogs and climbing trees – just your everyday walk in the park! Of course the park wasn’t full of colour (wrong time of year) and Dave wore completely inappropriate shoes which I pretty much managed to ruin by the end of the shoot but hopefully he’s forgiven me by now.

They met at a popular watering hole in Leeds at a gig where Clare (knowing full well Dave had his own studio) went up to him and asked him if he’d tattoo her…. The rest as they say, is history. That’s how us girls roll… A lot of Clare’s tattoos weren’t on show for the pre-wed shoot although her gorgeous locket on her chest is Dave’s fine work.”

It’s true! Clare’s locket-chest piece is epic!

Just look at these two:

Again: A HUGE thank you to Shelly at Toast Of Leeds for letting me share this awesome couple with you!

WELCOME TO MARRY ME INK [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Hello to all! This is it!

The site is now LIVE!!

Welcome to my little project – Marry Me Ink! After months of preparation, stress & organisation skills going to pot (whilst holding a demanding full-time job) I am happy to unveil my goings on!

Discussions of a blog came about over some good food and wine over at the Nel household after numerous people commenting on my finished tattoo sleeve and kindly asking me “And do you not think of what you’ll look like in a wedding dress if you got married?”

With that question in mind – Marry Me Ink was launched. A blog dedicated to the decorated bride. With much discussion with other bloggers, friends and small business owners & photographers within the alternative wedding sector – Toni & I started to build what you see now. We aspire to be a site and forum for you to seek wedding tips & ideas for your own Marry Me Ink Wedding oozing with inky goodness!

The past couple of weeks have been absolutely crazy with interest about the site – insanely exciting – especially with exciting shoots to feature.

I hope you find us useful and enjoy being part of the Marry Me Ink community.

Lots of love – Rach.XX
