Introducing: Pin-Ups in Pinnies

Everyone loves cake right? I know I do! What if they were boozy and were served by beautiful ladies? This is where Pin-Ups in Pinnies come in..
Pin-Ups in Pinnies is owned by the wonderful Alexandra McCann,  specialising in boozy baked treats complete with stunning 1950’s pin-ups to hand them out – adding a touch of vintage glamour to any event!

“Our cupcakes are perfect for anyone looking for something a little different at their wedding. They work wonderfully as reception canapés and our Pin-Ups can also hand out drinks and savoury canapés to compliment the cupcakes. We can also create custom cupcake flavours. If a bride and groom have a signature cocktail/favourite drink or are serving something specific as a reception drink, we can create a cupcake flavour to match.

“I was also inspired to start Pin-Ups in Pinnies as I believe in great customer service and wanted to bring another dimension to your normal cupcake company. To me cupcakes should be a whole experience and Pin-Ups in Pinnies bring  not only tasty cupcakes but a whole 1950’s experience to your event.

I am really inspired by the 1950’s and by interesting cocktail flavourings. I love how feminine the clothing, hair and make-up was in the 1950’s. Our Pin-Ups all do their own vintage hair & make-up and wear uniforms made from authentic 1950’s patterns. Our cupcake flavours are inspired by cocktails & our favourite tipples! I wanted to create cupcakes to be eaten alongside cocktails in a bar rather than the usual coupling of tea and cake (although there’s nothing wrong with a good bit of tea and cake!)

“If you have specific dietary requirements we can also cater for those. I am both dairy and wheat intolerant so I am more than happy to create cupcakes that are gluten free, dairy free, nut free & vegan. In fact I really enjoy catering for people with dietary requirements as I am aware of how difficult it can be to find treats to indulge in when you have an allergy or intolerance.

Our first booking was for the Cath Kidston store in Selfridges, Manchester and our cupcakes were a hit there! Upcoming bookings include an awards ceremony for The Princes Trust & next month we are sponsoring the Best of Vintage Manchester Awards where our lovely Pin-Ups will be handing out free boozy cupcakes to all the guests.  It takes place at Matt & Phreds on Tibb Street in Manchester on Wednesday 17th October.

“We have recently shot our 2013 calendar that will be on sale soon in our online shop. All the girls featured in it won our Pin-Up of the Month competition and we have a variety of amazing sponsors involved including Vivien of Holloway, Collectif & Vanity Dresses by Limb Clothing.”

How amazing are these cakes?! Be sure to check out Pin-Ups in Pinnies’ website and buy one of their new calendars – Leave them some love!
