ACCESSORIES AHOY! Thursday 18th October 2012

Good afternoon! Today, Marry Me Ink gets to introduce you to a fabulous lady: Razorblade Mermaid “Rock n Roll Jewels for Divas and Rockabilly Sea Queens”

“Hi, I’m Ky, I own Sheffield based business Razorblade Mermaid Jewellery which I’ve been running for just a little over 5 years now. I design and make my own jewellery and everything is handmade by me. I finally decided to step up a gear with the business last year and launched my first website… www.razorblademermaid.co.uk in November 2011 it’s really taken off which is a massive achievement for me.
You can usually find me trading somewhere at a few weekends throughout each month, usually at the local Vintage Fair in Sheffield, evening Burlesque events, Tattoo conventions, roller derby’s, custom car and bike shows and alternative music festivals. Check out my Facebook page to see where I’ll be hanging out…  I’m always popping up somewhere!

“The alternative, rockabilly and psychobilly scene inspire me, along with the punk culture, tattoos and the Day of the Dead and most definitely skulls! Skulls feature heavily in all of my jewellery.

“I make such a wide variety of jewellery from fruity Carmen Miranda statement pieces, to Day of the Dead Mexican and sugar skulls, to stunning cameo necklaces on pearls, to tattoo and vintage inspired. It’s safe to say that there is definitely something for everybody at Razorblade Mermaid!! It’s a big explosion of tattoo, rockabilly, zombie, psychobilly, fruit and punk jewellery all rolled into one.

“I feel it’s whatever will make the bride feel like a million dollars on her fabulous day, but a combination of all three (Vintage/Modern/Sequinned) sounds good to me! I wouldn’t suggest the bride-to-be wearing a style that she is not comfortable with or doesn’t suit her just to go along with whatever is “En Vogue” at that particular moment in time. However, saying all that, don’t be afraid to try a new style…you never know, you may be surprised…in a fabulous way!! Choose your dress for you and not to make anybody else happy!

“I myself have a full colour solid back piece that starts in between my shoulders and finishes at my waist! – It’s an underwater ocean scene with a whole lot going on! It’s got a large King Neptune, a large Octopus, a shipwreck, Seahorse, an anchor, different fish and coral and rocks all down either side of my back and lots of blue swirly sea and waves.
I also have a large mermaid on my left thigh and two large oval cameo tattoos on the back of each calf, one’s a Flamingo and the other a Toucan. I have more tattoo sessions booked for November and the list that I would love to get inked is growing! It’s all about finding the time and planning where things are going to go! I’m totally obsessed by the sea and have been as a child, but I also adore birds and nature.”

Aren’t these pieces by Ky amazing? Be sure to head over to her website and Facebook! Massive thanks to both photographers for sharing their work also!
P.S.. The Zombie Marilyn/Corpse Bride/Sugar Skull/Vampiress pictures are such the sneakiest of peeks of what’s to come next week in time for Halloween!
