When you are planning your wedding the selection of dresses, venues and themes now on offer allows you to be incredibly creative. Even the most traditional of services can often incorporate some unusual and bespoke elements which guarantee it’s unique to only you.
It’s surprising then that the options for hen parties are so often pedestrian. For every bride who is delighted to spend an evening watching male strippers while wearing a pink cowboy hat there’s many many more who dread the inevitable hen party planning and the compromises it seems to entail.
Step in the Vintage Pamperbox! Run by Betty Bee and Lilly Von Pink they have been offering vintage inspired pamper parties for nearly three years.
Among the numerous packages they offer is the Deluxe Vintage Pamper Party, where guests are treated to a full retro Hollywood glamour hair and make-up workshop, a beginners burlesque or jive lesson, a 1950’s make over by Betty and Lilly and then a cheese-cake style photoshoot -these ladies don’t do things by halves!
Over recent times new themes have been rolled out to include a 1920’s speak-easy an 1980’s disco and most recently a Horror Gore Hottie hen package. Perfect for those hens who favour the slightly darker side of pre wedding celebrations.
As Betty explains it was with some trepidation they started to offer this rather spooky hen party idea “We had been approached a few times to style horror gore inspired photoshoots and had never been certain it was genre which we could be passionate about. Its vital to us that we absolutely love every theme we offer. However once we started to try out different looks like “Zombie Marilyn Monroe” and “Corpse bride” we realised we could do something really different and put all our skills into creating glamorous horror pin ups. Gothic and horror make up is so inspiring to us as make up artists and its now one of our favourite hen parties to put on!”
And what hen parties they are! Ladies turn up to their own private venue and are taught a workshop in fabulous make up techniques (everything from perfecting a Frida Kahlo inspired Sugarskull – to a creepy pin up clown!) given a full Horror Hottie make over and then photographed with a variety of props including zombie brains, blood drenched machetes and crucifix’s – there’s not a pink feather boa or L plate in sight!
Betty has been amazed at how popular its already become “We always knew our hen parties appealed to women who wanted something unusual and different from the norm, but its taken us by surprise how many girls absolutely love the super Gothic alternative styling of these parties!”
