Today I get to share with you an awesome couple who had everything from sunflowers, polka dots, a retro car, super stylish sunglasses and lots of rockabilly music!
Although we were from the same town, he had moved away years ago. I had seen him about Banbury town though so although we hadn’t officially met when we were talking online, we weren’t complete strangers.
It took a little while, but we eventually got chatting every day and then texting and decided to finally meet in Banbury. He met me at the train station and I was so nervous I had already pretty much downed half a bottle of vodka! See me and Vanien are quite simple folk we don’t need fancy restaurants etc. we love our music and it was a beautiful day so we thought for our first date we would go and sit in a field listening to punk music drinking cider… We were also wearing Christmas hats in the middle of summer, it was love!
The highlight of our wedding day was obviously getting married, seeing Vanien waiting for me at the alter was the best moment of my life, and seeing him immediately calmed my nerves! (I was a shaking, blubbering mess) Another highlight was our band, they were AMAZING! Everybody loved them.
“The details of the wedding that represented us as a couple was my dress, hair and make up which were quite vintage/50s style. I adore the 50s and anything rockabilly. My bridesmaids dresses were also red and white polka dot swing dresses! They looked so cool. Vanien although dressed very traditional in a kilt still had his mohawk firmly up, he is a punk and always will be.”
We had a 1950s black and red Ford Fairlane for our car, which we both adored and fit with our style perfectly… We even had red and white polka dot ribbon on it to match the bridesmaids dresses, my nails were even red and white polka dot. Our first dance was to Elvis and I even walked down the aisle to Elvis Crying in the Chapel. Our table names were vinyl records with different photos of Vanien and I and the table names were of famous rock and roll stars and their songs e.g Buddy Holly, Peggy Sue etc. We had red and white polka dot bunting and our cake was polka dot with sunflowers. Some guests at our wedding really made an effort too and wore swing or Audrey dresses.
How amazing is Layla & Vanien’s wedding? Thank you to them both and to their photographer Charlie Maddox for sharing their day with Marry Me Ink. Be sure to leave them some love!
