You may recognise tattooed bride and groom Emma and Chris from their golden engagement shoot in Yorkshire that I featured in January. Today they’re back with their gorgeous Ponderosa Lakeside Restaurant wedding from Maryanne Scott Photography.
Having all our friends and family together to be part of our day was the highlight of our wedding day. We never wanted a stuffy formal wedding, that’s just not us. We had so much fun and spent the whole day just smiling and laughing!
I think the fact that we had such a relaxed day was the biggest reflection on us as a couple. There were also little hints of tattoo art, such as on the table plan, wedding cake and back of my dress.
I don’t think I specifically wanted a dress to show off my tattoos but I wasn’t going to hide them either! I love the fashion of the fifties and always knew I would have a fifties style dress and that show I feel most comfortable, it just so happened that it showed off my tattoos in the process!
We had quite a few DIY projects for the wedding, I love being arty and creative so wanted that at our wedding. We never got ALL the ideas into the wedding as I think I massively underestimated how long the projects would take. My sister made our table plan and Chris’s mum made the wonderful button holes (which were all unique) and I made my own bouquet and the bridesmaid button bouquets which I am so proud of. They took so much longer than I had anticipated but I was so happy with the end result. I do, however, never want to see another button ever again! And no so much of a DIY, but I was able to have my dress custom made from scratch by the amazing girls at Legend Bridal Designs, I loved every second of designing and then wearing my dress!!
Our Top Tips: Be YOURSELVES and if you’re undertaking DIY projects give yourself plenty of time to finish them and delegate! I was a complete control freak and ended up stressing myself out which is never good leading up to your big day!
How amazing if Emma’s Legend Bridal Designs dress? (I’ve been visiting the girls there myself for a lovely piece which I’ll get to share with you soon!) I love the button bouquets that they made too and button holes. Thank you to the both and to Maryanne Scott Photography for sharing with Marry Me Ink today!
