Dark Neon – Industrial Chic Wedding Inspiration

A Neon Warehouse in the heart of Liverpool is the scene for today’s gorgeous Dark Neon wedding inspiration from Amy Faith Photography.

Hinterlands is a super cool licensed warehouse event venue in Liverpool that has become one of the hot new wedding locations for couples looking for somewhere un-traditional for their big day. The fact you can also get married there means you don’t have to go wandering around the city when you could be chilling and getting drunk with your guest.. I’ll let Amy give you an idea on how awesome this space is:

The guys at Hinterlands wanted a chance to show off their unique ceremony space, Eclipse, in the form of a high end styled shoot, using a bunch of wedding suppliers on the preferred supplier list. That’s where I come in! I’ve styled a few of my own quirky shoots and was pretty excited to get my teeth into something even quirkier. The chance to work on something that was completely devoid of any daylight! This may sound terrifying to some, and I’m not going to lie it was super challenging, but this is what I love about the wedding industry today: nothing worth doing is ever easy! It seemed a great way to celebrate something new.

So together with the Hinterlands we came up with a concept, design and overall style, which we then sent to each supplier as a brief for their products. It was brilliant to see so many different artists work with the brief in their own way and the end product was beautiful. Dark, edgy and raw, with a touch of elegance thrown in. Lit only by the event lighting rig, some beautiful old theatre lights, neon signs and candles we got to work capturing the entire space.

Canadian Winter Wedding Inspiration

The weather has been scorching this weekend – Who was more than warm at a wedding this weekend? I know I was! I thought we could do with a little cool down this evening and this winter wedding inspiration from Victoria Jean Photography.

Here in Canada, our wedding season is extremely seasonal. Between January and May is a slow time due to our harsh winters, so I like to use this time for some creativity. A few months ago, I had an idea for a styled shoot I thought would be fun. I wanted to go for a darker, moody themed shoot with dramatic details. Often times, couples avoid getting married in our off-season due to the weather; I wanted to show that our winter weather can still create a beautiful vibe too.

I reached out to some other local vendors and models, and we decided to put it together! The final result was well beyond what I had imagined. I’m from a small town in Newfoundland, Canada and the talent here is truly amazing – I wanted to make sure I gave each vendor creative freedom with this; I created a mood board for the theme, and let everyone work their magic from there.

I didn’t see any final details (except the dress) until the day of the shoot. We all had a chance to really push our boundaries, and everyone involved really put out their best work! I’m proud to showcase it through my photography.

This wedding inspiration is perfect for those planning their wedding for the cooler seasons – I especially love the use of the ferns in the flower arrangements. Thanks to Victoria Jean Photography for sharing this shoot – The whole team did a fantastic job!

The 8-Step Guide for Planning a Last-Second Honeymoon Getaway

Perhaps you’ve been so focused on the mechanics of your big day that you forgot about that one final detail — the honeymoon. Maybe, you just realized you could fit a newlywed trip into your budget. Some of you might have decided that you do, indeed, need a vacation after the wedding chaos.

No matter the reason, you’re planning your honeymoon at the last minute. Fortunately, it’s possible to book a trip that will give you all the relaxing, romantic vibes you need without breaking the bank. Here’s our eight-step guide to doing so.

1. Figure Out Transportation First
Some planners will be lucky enough to live within driving distance of a honeymoon-ready destination. If so, transportation doesn’t have to be a huge consideration — book a hotel, pack, hop in the car and go.

However, most honeymooners will have to find a flight to where they want to go, and last-minute tickets can be pricey. Use a flight aggregator website like Skyscanner, where you can plug in your home airport and specify your intended destination to find the cheapest flights. To that end, if you’re unsure where you want to go, you can use Skyscanner to search for “everywhere” as your destination to see what your most cost-effective options are.

2. Don’t Get Married to Specific Dates
You’re in a marriage state-of-mind, but, to plan a last-minute trip, you have to be open to travelling on different days to find the best deals. For instance, flying on Friday and Sunday tends to be more expensive, since everyone wants to either leave work and go, then get home and start the week seamlessly. If you’re willing to fly in the middle of the week, though, you can get a much better deal — and you’ll only have to get through a few days of work before fully resetting on the weekend.

3. Use the 14-Day Rule
Two weeks before a cruise sets sail or a hotel welcomes guests or a plane takes off, they take drastic measures to reach full occupancy — they lower prices. If you’re two weeks away from your intended honeymoon dates, now’s the time to look for flights, hotels or cruise berths. You could also find a discounted travel package that includes your transportation and accommodation.

4. Pay Attention to Travel Site Emails
In the past, you’ve probably used a travel site, such as Orbitz or Expedia, to help you book your discounted travel and hotel. These companies send out regular emails to flaunt their best upcoming deals. As you start planning your last-minute honeymoon, pay attention to these messages. This option will be especially fun for the spontaneous brides and grooms out there – a website could help choose your first destination as husband and wife.

5. Use Apps to Help You Plan
Your honeymoon won’t just involve selecting a flight and hotel. Before your last-minute departure, you should have an idea of all the fun things you can do — and the great things you can eat — once you reach your destination. Travel apps, such as Yelp and TripAdvisor, will show you the top activities, restaurants, tours and more. Then, you can use apps, including Google Translate, to help you communicate in a new country or OpenTable to help you book romantic meals each night.

6. Enlist Help
Last-minute trip planning can be stressful, and you’re probably already swamped with the final details of your wedding. So, consider finding the right travel agent who can help you. This option doesn’t have to incur a significant expense, nor will your helper choose an exorbitantly expensive trip for you and your new spouse. Instead, they will work to put together a package that suits your budget and travel window.

Plus, they have connections — a travel agent picking up the phone and calling hotels for you will have more weight than you trying on your own. You might even get special treatment upon your arrival, which is what we all want on our honeymoons.

7. Always Do Your Research
If a travel deal appears too good to be true, then it probably is. Before booking any last-minute trip package, be sure to use the user-review apps mentioned above and see what others have experienced on their getaways. In some cases, they’ll have had wonderful trips, which can give you the confidence you need to book. However, you might find that your destination isn’t all it’s cracked up to be — and you’ll save a lot of money determining that now.

8. Don’t Be Afraid of the Waitlist
You’ve booked your flight and hotel, but you can’t seem to get into any of the activities you want to do on your honeymoon. Don’t fret — ask the people in charge to put you on a waitlist. You might not be able to do everything you want to do, but you’re likely to find that restaurants, spas and other places will be willing to work with you to make your honeymoon memorable.

Get Married and Go
Your honeymoon is the relaxing reward for months spent planning and preparing for your walk down the aisle. In other words, you’ve earned this – even if you’re putting it together last-minute, don’t skimp on your first vacation as newlyweds. Book it, get going and enjoy every moment.

How To Plan Wedding Decor On A Budget Without Sacrificing Quality

Planning a wedding on a budget isn’t as easy as it seems. Simple things can start to add up quickly, especially decor for tables, entrances and even around the aisle. Here seven simple ways to plan wedding decor that looks classy and elegant without blowing up a budget.

1. Pick a Beautiful Location

One of the simplest ways to spend less on wedding decor is to pick a stunning location to begin with. Outdoor venues with a beautiful overlook or a garden with plenty of flowers and greenery are great spaces to hold a wedding or reception without needing to buy extra decor. Non-traditional couples can even opt to get married in an art gallery or bed and breakfast to find a classic charm that doesn’t need any extras.

2. Don’t Feel Afraid to Rent

Buying every single piece of decor from the flowers to the centerpieces can add up and quickly cause couples to go over budget. Instead, renting china, drinkware and even decorations from friends can save money in the long-run. Before purchasing brand new china or table linens, check with different wedding venues to see what’s included in the package price. Then, ask recently married friends if they have any decor they could loan or rent for a lower price.

3. Use In-Season Flowers

Some brides dream about using their favorite flower on their wedding day, from roses to lilies. However, depending on when a wedding takes place, those flowers may not be in season. Choosing to decorate with in-season flowers can significantly reduce the cost of decor. Check with a wedding planner or a florist to find out which flowers are in season during your wedding date and make them the focal point to avoid rising costs.

Another option is to use paper flowers or silk flowers, which look exactly like the real thing. They’re more cost-effective, and you can use them again if one of your friends gets married or another event pops up.

4. DIY Everything You Can

Thankfully, the internet makes it easy to DIY almost anything for a wedding, even if the bride isn’t particularly crafty. Use YouTube and Pinterest for DIY ideas and put together everything from elegant centerpieces to rustic chalkboard signs. This is a great time to recruit friends and family members that are crafty or have some free time on their hands to help with wedding decor.
