An Intimate New Zealand Beach Wedding – Tabi & Roy

What’s better than a day at the beach? How about when your parents live on the coast and are willing to host your wedding day? Well that’s exactly what tattooed bride Tabi’s parents did for her and Roy’s wedding earlier this year. With photography from Sarah McEvoy Photography, the day looks totally chilled out.

Early on, we both agreed that we really liked the idea of having a small, intimate wedding with just our immediate families – to create a really relaxed and special atmosphere where we, and our guests, could just enjoy ourselves. No pressure, no fuss, but an amazing day.

As you may have noticed, we had a lot of DIY aspects in our wedding. In fact, almost everything that we could DIY, we did! It did begin to seem a bit mad, all of the projects that we wanted to accomplish but that’s just us – we love doing things ourselves, making things to our liking or needs, and being able to customise them to perfectly suit us as a couple. Towards the end it definitely seemed crazy, but it was so worth it!

Roy and I spend a lot of time together on projects and hunting for bits and pieces that we can renovate or up-cycle and add to our home. We also agreed that we wanted our wedding theme to be somewhat simple.

A Coastal Wedding In Florida – Sarah & Ben

MMI_4013

Today I get you share with the gorgeous wedding of tattooed bride Sarah and husband Ben from Orlando wedding photographer Gian Carlo Photography. Sarah is probably on of the most heavily tattooed brides I’ve had the chance to feature on Marry Me Ink, and she looks absolutely gorgeous!

We actually met on match.com. I had made my profile, forgot about it..never paid. One day I decided to log on and pay for a month (what’s the worst that could happen?). I then went to lunch, came back and had an email from Ben (my now husband). We met 3 days later, deleted our accounts and were stuck to each other like glue. We both had dreams about each other before we ever met…! It was fate.

We are not traditional people, so we didn’t want a bouquet  or garter toss. We had a cake and the toppers were our 4 dogs, Lucy, Lola, Maggie and Charles. It was just a laid back night of music, food and friends. We also had our Bulldog Lucy be the ring bearer.

Almost every single thing was made by loving hands. My mother made the most amazing bouquet out of old brooches and pins. She searched for a year and also had family and friends donate them. I tear up just thinking about it. All the center pieces were made of photos, old cameras, antiques and found items. Instead of a guestbook, I put out scrapbook paper, stickers, markers and tape so people could make small pieces of art for us. I then put them into the scrapbook and have it displayed in our home. Everything had a personal touch, something I’m very proud of.

A Beach Style, Garden Wedding – Madeline & Jacob

IMG_3737-Edit

I’ve been waiting to share tattooed bride Madeline and husband Jacob’s wedding for a few weeks now – I just love the colours and peaceful feel I get from captures of their day from Homespun Creative. They had their wedding in their parents’ back garden in Long Beach and used seasonal flowers from the garden.

Jacob and I met when I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th. We got to know each other throughout high school, mostly in jazz band. He played trumpet and I played piano and the way the piano was faced during practice, I was constantly seeing him messing around in the back row making inappropriate jokes with his trumpet. We both went our separate ways after high school, he to University of Washington and I to the University of Oregon. One summer we both happened to be single and I asked him to teach me to surf. It turned in a short summer fling, we went our separate ways again but from then on whenever we were both home from school we’d get together and go out on dates. There was also one summer I spent a lot of time “surfing” with Jacob while in another relationship but it all worked out in the end! Jacob would never commit to a relationship until he went with me and two other friends on a trip to Vegas for my 21st birthday. After way too many cocktails I broke down into tears in front of Caesar’s Palace and told him I was in love with him and had been for years and he told me he was too and we’ve been together ever since, five years, after about 3 years of flings.
