Canadian Winter Wedding Inspiration

The weather has been scorching this weekend – Who was more than warm at a wedding this weekend? I know I was! I thought we could do with a little cool down this evening and this winter wedding inspiration from Victoria Jean Photography.

Here in Canada, our wedding season is extremely seasonal. Between January and May is a slow time due to our harsh winters, so I like to use this time for some creativity. A few months ago, I had an idea for a styled shoot I thought would be fun. I wanted to go for a darker, moody themed shoot with dramatic details. Often times, couples avoid getting married in our off-season due to the weather; I wanted to show that our winter weather can still create a beautiful vibe too.

I reached out to some other local vendors and models, and we decided to put it together! The final result was well beyond what I had imagined. I’m from a small town in Newfoundland, Canada and the talent here is truly amazing – I wanted to make sure I gave each vendor creative freedom with this; I created a mood board for the theme, and let everyone work their magic from there.

I didn’t see any final details (except the dress) until the day of the shoot. We all had a chance to really push our boundaries, and everyone involved really put out their best work! I’m proud to showcase it through my photography.

This wedding inspiration is perfect for those planning their wedding for the cooler seasons – I especially love the use of the ferns in the flower arrangements. Thanks to Victoria Jean Photography for sharing this shoot – The whole team did a fantastic job!

An Early Morning Wedding Complete With Brunch & A Bonfire – Samantha & Bryce

Today on Marry Me Ink I get to share with you Samantha and Bryce’s woodland wedding from Nicola Reiersen Photography. Everything from Samantha’s Mori Lee berry coloured dress to the bonfire is keeping us cosy this morning!

We met in high school in the library and instantly became good friends. It was always a hilarious back and forth of your cliché-high-school-sweetheart-but-friend-zoned story the eventually grew into the most comfortable and strong relationship.

Almost everything in our wedding really reflected us as a couple. From hosting an early morning wedding, serving brunch, having a bonfire and being out in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.

I’d say 90% of our wedding was DIY, the most fun thing we did was creating our “Sunday Paper” for our guests – complete with a custom crossword.

The highlight of our wedding day, aside from the obvious (marrying my best friend), was probably seeing all our hard work in all its glory. All of our family and friends came together to help us make the day so special and it really showed.

Gothic Winter Wedding Inspiration

Today on Marry Me Ink, we’re heading to Canada – The perfect inspiration for your winter wedding planning. With below-freezing temperatures outside in the snow, the bride wrapped up in a leather jacket whilst being photographed by the fab Jennifer Georgette Photography. I’m in love with crystal tiaras at the moment at this one from Lovespun Creations is gorgeous!!

I first connected with Tracey from Sugar by Tracey a few months back and we decided that we wanted to do a styled wedding that was a bit more dark and moody then the weddings we had been a part of.  We decided on a date in February and from there enlisted the help of Darcie from Something Borrowed Wedding and Event Design and Travis from Calyx Floral Design to come up with the styling concept of the shoot.

We worked with some incredible vendors and the final product looked beyond amazing. The models we had were actually a married couple so it made my job much easier as they were totally in love and it felt almost like a real wedding. The bride Ida had some incredibly stunning tattoos to show off but unfortunately since we live in Canada and it is winter the day of the shoot ended up being a little colder than anticipated so she had to wear her jacket a bit more. But they were such troopers and even did some outside in -20 weather.
