MARRY ME INK LOVES – Anna Pumer Photography

Anna Pumer Photography

Happy February! Today, I get to introduce you to Marry Me Ink’s latest lovely supplier – The wonderful Anna Pumer Photography!

MMI_3706

I’m Anna Pumer, a quirky, fun, whimsical wedding photographer based in Brighton, UK – but I shoot weddings all around the world. With me, you can forget about awkward posed photos and forced smiles. Your wedding is about laughing so hard you spit your drink out, kicking your shoes off to dance wildly to the band, and everyone having a damned good time. And my job is to capture it all as it happens.

I’m inspired by every couple I work with, and I shoot for their personalities, capturing who they are and what they’re all about. People with tattoos tend to be quite creative and I’ve found their weddings to be fun, laid back and a little bit crazy all rolled into one! (I don’t have any tattoos – I’m not good with pain! But I love looking at the pieces of art people have on their bodies – and I especially love photographing them)

We first met 8 years ago on new year’s eve at a local pub. We became close friends but after a couple of years, drifted apart and met different people – Even though it seemed everyone around could see we would be perfect together! After my relationship ended, I started to see little reminders of James everywhere. Despite having lived in the same small village, and even over the road from him at one point, I hadn’t seen him more than twice in the whole 5/6 years we weren’t talking!

ASSASSYNATION – Shot By Sassy

SASSY LOGO (2)

Today I get to welcome back the wonderful Sassy – One of the awesome alternative wedding photographers of the whole UK. I had the opportunity to chat to Sassy recently and ask her a few questions about what she loves and her photography.

MMI_1288

Hey there, I’m Sassy!! Otherwise known as Assassynation photography.  I LOVE weddings, particularly weddings with a difference.  Ones with some serious personality, one’s where it gets a bit crazy……..basically anything fun.

Q1

Ummm I have quite a few, I have a chest piece, a whole back piece, my ring finger has a traditional Thai symbol on it which I had done with bamboo during my vow renewal, I have a hand tapped Thai yant on my wrist, I have my charm bracelet which documents the interesting places I go and people I meet that have impacted on my life….. This I’ll be adding to forever!!

Q2

People who know who they are, people who are unapologetic about their uniqueness and who refuse to be sidetracked in to doing “what everybody else does”.  I love creative, interesting and alternative people who judge people on their merits not what designer label they wear, what colour their hair is or what the fact that they have tattoos.  Basically if you are unusual, a bit weird, totally bonkers, and eccentric or straying from the norm I am going to love you and you are what inspire me to do this.

Q3

Whatever the hell you want!! Don’t be bullied in to anything, be brave, be yourself!! If you want a corpse bride dress, or a leopard print dress, or you want to show off your tatts then do it.  It’s your day!!

Why I Charge What I Do – A Guide To Wedding Photography Pricing From Darren Mack

Today I have Marry Me Ink’s latest sponsor, the wonderful Daz of Darren Mack Photography, explain why your photography is important for your wedding day and the reasons why it costs what it costs.

“Why I charge what I do”

It’s something I am going to try and explain in the best way I possibly can, but first I need you to come with me on a journey, through time and space, to the world of the Mighty Boosh.

2014-03-28_0002

My current prices for a wedding are around £1000. This is a price which I think reflects quite well to exactly where I am in my business. I have great equipment, I am fully insured, and I have shot quite a few weddings.

Going back  3 years though, things were a lot different, I didn’t charge any where near that, in fact, I didn’t charge at all, it all went a lil’ something like this….

My first wedding…. I was paid for my travel and accommodation costs. £150. That was it, it was all I asked for. This was new to me, and the couple were taking a huge risk letting me be the photographer.

I got up at 6am, scraped the ice off my car, as it was December, and started my 3 and a half hour journey. (obviously stopping for a sausage roll at the service station, ITS NEVER TOO EARLY PEOPLE!)

I arrived at around 10am to the venue, put my shirt and tie on, and started working straight away.

Fast forward twelve hours to 10 at night and I’m shattered. I’ve been running round all day photographing, backing up my images, setting up a projector and laptop for a slide show, all of this with only a 1 hour break in between (I know, a full hour right!? who the hell do I think I am resting for that long?).

You know what though? I loved it, it was there and then that I decided that this is what I wanted to do, I wanted to be a wedding photographer, I had spent 12 hours on my feet shooting sure, but it was with the friendliest, happiest people having the BEST time. What could you not love about that?
