How is it November already? I mean seriously.. We’ll all be Instagramming our Christmas trees soon!
This afternoon on Marry Me Ink, I get to share Sarah and Dana’s beautiful barn wedding from Yaritza Colòn Photography that took place at Merrill Farm in Maine.
Dana saw me at a show and asked his friends who I was, found me online, and asked me if I wanted to hang out. We lived in the same city and knew a lot of the same people so it wasn’t as weird as it might sound!
I don’t even know where to begin. The whole day was amazing. I think my favourite part of the day was seeing everyone we love when I walked down the aisle with my dad, and of course seeing Dana melt when he saw me in my dress.
I’m a little OCD about what clothing “goes with” my tattoos and what doesn’t. With this in mind, I knew I wanted something strapless so my sleeve wouldn’t be covered partially/at all. Other than that, white pretty much goes with everything, right?
We really did our best as a couple to have the wedding be exactly what WE wanted, sometimes I think other people’s opinions can get in the way of what you want your special day to be like and we really owned the day. The style, the food, the music, the beer, and the great group of people we had there really represented us both individually and as a couple.
As most barn weddings do, our wedding had a whole lot of DIY element and let me tell you I am so thankful for my bridesmaids. My Matron of Honor made hundreds of feet of bunting, we made the table numbers, signs, props for the Polaroid camera, I made all of the wedding favors and the escort cards, my mom painted shutters to hold them and also painted windows to write the menus on. My favorite DIY element was our cake toppers, which I made. We wanted so badly to have our cats at the wedding (crazy cat parents and proud of it!!). With the fear of them running away never to be found again, I decided to make Toaster and Elroy into clay cake toppers so they could be with us on our big day.
“It was the perfect day”
How awesome does Sarah and Dana look? I love that the bridemaids wore floral dresses (from ModCloth!) and the groom and groomsmen wore chequered shirts! (Also, Sarah tells me that they’ll both be getting tattoos of their kitties soon!). Thank you to them both and to Yaritza Colòn Photography for sharing with Marry Me Ink today.. Be sure to leave them some love!
