Tattooed bride Deanna and husband Chris had a nautical theme to their wedding day, which included walking the plank and jumping into the pool at their venue Deer Crossing Inn and photography from Matt Ritscher from New Hope Photography.
When I was 18, I went with a friend to watch him get tattooed and saw Chris. He was my friend’s tattoo artist. I was smitten, but didn’t actually meet him until a few years later when I was then piercing at the same shop I first saw him at. He had gone off to live on a boat in the Bahamas, but decided to return.
We were fast friends, and then roommates, all while dating other people. It wasn’t until after we moved out to our own places that we started dating, and here we are nearly a decade later both tattoo artists, business partners, friends, and a married couple in love.
I think all of our wedding represented us a couple really. It was where all of my friends and family came together, not only to witness our marriage, but they all worked their tails off too. Our friends did the set up, cooking, sewing, video making, officiating, photography ect. We also had live music at the end of the night that was stompy, piratey and a blast. I think that teamwork, community and fun are all things we try to aim for, and our wedding was a perfect embodiment of that.
I made the invitations, flower arrangements and programs. My now husband, matron of honour and I made a ship mast, and a plank to walk off of, and my husband and I made art prints and personalized messages in a bottle for all of our guests. I enjoyed making the invitations the most because I was not yet burnt out with wedding planning, but the most rewarding was the messages in the bottles and the art prints. Some of our guests teared up, and most everyone thanked us for it.
My favourite part of our wedding was walking the plank and jumping in the pool. Not only was it the greatest feeling after being in a heater of a dress all day, it was also the point where Chris and I could finally relax and spend some real time together as well as with our friends.
Our advice to couples planning their wedding is to not stress on the big day. Plan the best you can ahead of time, and enjoy your day… If all goes according to plan you will only have one of these, so have a blast!
How awesome is Deanna and Chris’ wedding? My favourites are the sails that they made to tie in with their pirate theme.. (And their jump into the pool obvisouly!) Thank you to them both and to New Hope Photography for sharing their epic day with Marry Me Ink. Be sure to leave them some love!
