The Big Red Barn Wedding: Casey & Jacob

Good afternoon! I’m still recovering from a fab week away in Murcia. Today I bring you a beautiful wedding in a big red barn! I met Casey and Jacob online through a band that Jacob was a part of (Which is actually how these two originally met also!) When I saw they were getting hitched – I contacted Casey straight away – she looked gorgeous on her wedding day complete with awesome bridesmaids in yellow!

“Jacob was in a band called Mike Mains & The Branches with some of my dear friends. When his band mate Shannon and I were in a wedding together, he saw some photos of me and told her I was beautiful. I was seeing someone else at the time.. so the following summer, he introduced himself to me. He was touring with his band, and we talked almost every day. One day I rented a car and drove five hours to see him play a show.

That night he asked me to be his girlfriend, and we’ve been happily in love ever since!

He would tour and we would send each other pictures and letters every day while he was gone. Finally, when he asked me to marry him, he moved to Chicago to prepare to build our lives together.

“From the big red barn to the DIY projects, our friends said they knew they were at our wedding. We decorated the centrepieces with owls, had a custom illustrated portrait made, wrapped our initials in yarn, and photos of us throughout our relationship around. We also set up a photo booth so we could have personal photos of our friends and family.

“I knew I wanted a strapless sweetheart dress to accentuate my shape, and I knew that my arm tattoos would flow really well with that style.
Jacob’s tattoos and mine both reflect our devotion to Continue reading

Ginger & Allen’s DIY Garden Wedding

This week’s real wedding is one of the coolest outdoor weddings I’ve seen yet. I look how awesome both Ginger & Allen look in their vintage gear – even their names fit it!

Photographed by one of Ginger’s best friends – Andrea of  Blue Lace Photography who contacted me with these beautiful images of a couple who had their wedding exactly how they wanted it.

“This is a wedding that meant so much to me to photograph. It was a pivotal day in the lives of two people I love, Ginger and Allen. Ginger and Allen met at a bakery where they both used worked. Ginger is one of the most epic cake and wedding cake designers I have ever met, and Allen will soon be a teacher! Coincidentally, Ginger and I met at the same bakery when we were both teenagers, and she has been a close friend of mine for almost 10 years now.

“There were so many personal and unique touches that I loved about this wedding, but I’ll let Ginger explain where her inspiration came from: Continue reading

Brodie and Sinead: A Rainforest Wedding On The Sunshine Coast

It’s true – I’m totally spoiling you this week before I jet off to Spain! This morning I bring you the awesome Brodie and Sinead where they married in her father’s rainforest!

Each of them look awesome, especially Sinead who had not one or two, but THREE dresses to wear on the day. Beautiful images from Ian C Pool and Clarissa Bones – collectively known as IC Bones. I had the chance to speak with Sinead and Brodie about their wedding day:

“We met at Soundwave metal festival in 2007 where we were both having a rad time with our best friends. We had a great night and met up again at the Overcranked festival a month later, went for a date the week after and have been best friends and lovers ever since.

The Wedding Of Two Artists: James & Erin

Good afternoon! You are in for a treat today!
Erin & James were married this year and had photos taken in between their service and reception by the awesome Allebach Photography – The Tattooed Bride Photographer. Mike likes to have fun with his couples on their wedding day (Just wait until you see some of the great moments – it looks like they had a ball on the day!)

Seriously, it looks like they had SO much fun!

“We met through a mutual friend while we were in college. James was on his way to a tattoo appointment and I tagged along to keep our mutual friend company. It was Halloween, so we went to a party together later that day and ended up at a diner at 4 in the morning. I was in costume as a Hindu goddess and covered in blue body paint, so I was pretty impressed that he would want to hang out with me all night.

A few weeks later he “officially” asked me out on a date – and we have been together ever since.
