A Nautical Essex Wedding – Harriet & DJ

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Harriet and DJ’s wedding that took place at Ye Olde Plough House in Essex – perfect for their nautical themed wedding from Corina Photography.

I met Harriet outside my friends’ salon 10 years ago in south London – I had popped out for a cigarette and Harriet happened to be strolling past the shop and bravely started a conversation with me about my t-shirt, and followed by asking for my number. At the time she was only 17 and I was 28 so we decided to go our separate ways after a while, until we got in contact again and got back together nearly 4 years ago.

We both chose a nautical theme because DJ comes from a surfing background.  We had the whole wedding day at Ye Olde Plough House as we fell in love with the barn conversion and cottages the moment we saw it.  Continue reading

A Nautical Pirate Wedding – Deanna & Chris

MMI (68 of 102)

Tattooed bride Deanna and husband Chris had a nautical theme to their wedding day, which included walking the plank and jumping into the pool at their venue Deer Crossing Inn and photography from Matt Ritscher from New Hope Photography.

When I was 18, I went with a friend to watch him get tattooed and saw Chris.  He was my friend’s tattoo artist.  I was smitten, but didn’t actually meet him until a few years later when I was then piercing at the same shop I first saw him at.  He had gone off to live on a boat in the Bahamas, but decided to return.

We were fast friends, and then roommates, all while dating other people.  It wasn’t until after we moved out to our own places that we started dating, and here we are nearly a decade later both tattoo artists, business partners, friends, and a married couple in love.

I think all of our wedding represented us a couple really. It was where all of my friends and family came together, not only to witness our marriage, but they all worked their tails off too. Our friends did the set up, cooking, sewing, video making, officiating, photography ect. We also had live music at the end of the night that was stompy, piratey and a blast.  I think that teamwork, community and fun are all things we try to aim for, and our wedding was a perfect embodiment of that.

A Nautical Harbour Wedding – Natalie & Ronnie

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to introduce you to Natalie and Ronnie and their sunshine filled wedding at Huntington Harbour Bay Club from Wheeland Photography. Once Ronnie had proposed to Natalie, she knew she wanted a backless dress so booked in to have her tattoo completed in time for the big day. It look so gorgeous in her Stephen Yearick gown.

We knew each other as friends for a few years in the same circle of people before we started to date. He suggested we get dinner one night to catch up after a period of not seeing each other and the rest is history.

Our main them was Nautical. I love the ocean and Ronnie loves fishing and in our early days of dating we spent a lot of time out on his boat fishing.

Our wedding day flew by and was a wonderful whirlwind! The emotional moments leading up to walking down the aisle, the knot tying ceremony and the cake cutting were fond moments. I’m also grateful that my Grandmother (Mother’s mother) and Grandfather (Father’s father) were able to share this day with us. Both have passed since our wedding day.
