Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Evan & Sean’s gothic Southern wedding at California’s Old Crocker Inn in from Matthew William Photography.

Evan was living in Fullerton, and was interested in stopping by her favourite little bar nearby, to grab a glass of wine and some freshly made french fries. Perfectly content at sitting on her own and not being bothered while she played games on her phone, surfing the socials and people watching, she couldn’t help but notice the piercing blue eyes of her server, catching her off guard. Trying to get his attention long enough to catch those eyes locking in on her own, she started some small talk with him, asking him about how much he liked working at that bar, and what else he did for a living. Sean was his name and he informed her that he worked at another bar she liked very much, when he wasn’t working there.

As the basket of fries diminished, the table next to her was annoyingly specific with what they wanted, asking silly requests and clearly frustrating Sean while he tried to take their order and satisfy them. Evan and Sean locked eyes and exchanged multiple funny glares at the odd requests they made. Sean smirked at Evan while taking her neighbouring table’s order, and she smiled back.

Evan decided she would just have to show up at that other bar as well, to offer another chance opportunity for their paths to cross. Doodling all over her check for Sean to see, she headed for the door and she was leaving, he called out to her, standing in the middle of the aisle when he should’ve been working and said, “Goodbye Evan!” She turned around, startled by someone calling her name, as she was stuck in her head, high on the flirt, and awkwardly ran into the door on her way out saying, “Oh! Bye . . . Sean!”

Less than 24 hours went by before Sean had found Evan on Instagram, and followed her. She immediately followed him back (although he didn’t post much), and another day or two went by before she slyly showed up at his other bar, just to see if he remembered her. As soon as she walked through the bar door, he made a spot for her right at the bar, near him, introduced her to all his regular customers and coworkers, and they talked the night away. They went on their first date that week, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

A Radiant & Artistic Pennsylvanian Wedding, Complete With A Hand-Embroidered Gown – Nicole & James

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Nicole and James’ outdoor wedding that took place at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center in Pennsylvania earlier this year with gorgeous photos from Savita Sittler. Practically everything was DIY.. Nicole purchased her dress off Etsy and then James’ sister hand-embroidered all the cuteness on it, including gnomes and flowers.

We met each other working at a library in college, where James was studying English and Philosophy and I was studying Geography. We shared a desk shift on Thursday nights and connected over music and art, both of which remain a big part of our lives and relationship.

Our personalities definitely shined through many aspects of the wedding. The ceremony was performed by two of our sisters, not only because we love them dearly but also because we wanted a matriarchal presence. Writing our own vows and walking down the aisle together allowed us to embrace each other as equals in our marriage as opposed to some of the traditional symbolism of marriage. James’ brother played a song that James wrote for me as we walked down the aisle, and we made a playlist for before and after the band of songs that we both love and make us think of each other.

Nearly everything was DIY. I love maps, so I used old topographic maps to make pennant banners. A handful of family members made nearly all the food. Though I ordered my dress on Etsy from Pure Linen Dresses by Azulsol, James’ sister spent hours embroidering it with ferns, flowers, gnomes, a moon, and other small symbols that I love. She also did my hair, and another sister did my makeup. I made the invitations, a friend did all of the flower arrangements, and we had a crew of about 30 family members and friends helping to set everything up and decorate. We even had one of our friends, who happens to have been a brewer at a restaurant we both worked at, brew a keg of James’ favourite beer. There were so many other great DIY elements that went into our wedding day, I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite!

Since we decided to walk down the aisle together, we ended up doing a ‘first look’ right before the ceremony started. It was the only part of the day where we were truly able to relax and enjoy each other’s company without being bombarded by guests. We were pretty nervous up to that point, but having an intimate moment together before the ceremony was really comforting.

Dreads, Cactus Tattoos & A Lot Of Love – Caitlin & Aaron

It’s finally getting sunny here in Manchester (But it’s still freezing!), so I had to share this gorgeous, sunny desert shoot of Caitlin and Aaron from Emily Grace Photography.

Caitlin and Aaron never got the images back from their actual wedding that their friend photographed, so this shoot was able to create the memories that they never received. This just goes to show that hiring a professional to photograph your wedding is key. I’m so glad that they managed to create more memories at Assateague Island in Maryland and have them photographed by Emily as part of the House of Flynn shoot session in Ocean City.

They are a beautiful, dread head couple who own the coffee shop, A Latte Enjoy, on 2nd Street in Ocean City – I recently had an amazing opportunity to work on styled wedding shoot with a few of my fellow House of Flynn Tribe members in Assateague Island, MD. House of Flynn is fantastic company that focuses on photography related apparel and camera bags. Their bags are absolutely fantastic and you’ll definitely catch me carrying mine around at weddings!

I loved getting to know Caitlin and Aaron during their intimate portrait session. It broke my heart to hear they never actually received their wedding photos. All the more reason to set up this session! It was so wonderful strolling around the beach with them and the other HOF Tribe members. An Intimate Yosemite National Park Wedding – Camilla & Matt

If you’ve been on the Marry Me Ink Facebook over the weekend you would have seen me sneak peek the gorgeous tattooed bride Camilla and Matt at Yosemite Park – Camilla is wearing a cute dress from Monsoon too! Today I’m so excited to share with you their wedding that took place at Redwoods from VeVi Photography. The views of the wedding ceremony are breathtaking!

Matt plays in a USA based death metal band, Exhumed, who were touring Europe extensively. Being really hungover I decided to go along to their show in London one evening, and thus met him there. I came stumbling out the toilets and I think he complimented me on my shirt I was wearing- which was a Tank Filth Hounds of Hades shirt. We managed to find each other on the social media world and exchanged messages for about a month before deciding to meet up in Amsterdam to see Iron Maiden – our “First Date” lasted almost a week as we traversed Amsterdam, London and Reading together.

Obviously, doing long distance and having 6000 miles between you means a lot of your family and friends don’t know about your story together or just hang out with you much in general, so we had a photo timeline out of our key dates and pictures from the 3 years. Seeing as we both LOVE heavy metal and Metallica we made a joke around the album “Ride the Lightning” and made a sign saying “Bride the Lightning” with our date on it. We don’t know if anyone else found it funny, but we sure did!

Being on a tight budget and very remote in a National Park we did a lot of everything ourselves. Pretty much everything including decorating jars, the archway, the bouquets, folding the napkins…We did most of it two days before  the wedding. Mostly me, Matt and the photographer we trapped in the middle of nowhere in Yosemite with us, but I have to say if it wasn’t for my photographer, Andreea, I would have been totally lost. She came and rescued the day and taught me how to arrange flowers, do origami napkins and just generally helped everything. I think the most fun was those two days of drinking while decorating things way up in the mountains. The arch was her idea and she made it in the morning of the wedding with leftover flowers and twigs! (hurray for jetlag!) We were so thankful and don’t think we have told her enough how amazing she is!

Due to the absolute nightmare I had for years with the US visa, we had to postpone our wedding. Originally it was supposed to be in August a year earlier. I was most excited about the day finally coming! That was the highlight for me at the end of a long immigration process… Finally, both us dressing up, having an amazing day (in the rain) and just amazing pictures of it all (we had Yosemite National Park as our backdrop!) and saying our vows in front of family and friends. The party was pretty wild!
