Happy December! Only 24 sleeps until Christmas!
I sneak peeked a gorgeous snap of Nicole and Joe’s Iowa farm wedding about a month ago, the minute Ashley Jane Photography send them over – I’m so honoured to get to share the most beautiful couples first hand with you guys!
Joe and I met while he was on tour with the Goddamn Gallows. We shared French fries, talked until 8am and then as we were laying down to sleep, Joe slyly set up his bed roll next to mine.. Tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I wanted to cuddle! We started dating a week later.
The highlight of our wedding day was getting to see all of our planning and hard work pay off – Having all of our friends (both distant and local) come together in one place.
I think each detail of the wedding represented Joe and I, we planned and constructed everything very carefully and made sure it was exactly ‘us’.
Our wedding was 100% DIY. My favorite items that were handmade were my bouquet (which Joe made) and my dress (which I designed and my friend Rebecca Clark made). Joe designed and screen printed our save the dates and invitations and designed our fans with little unknown facts about us as a couple. The whole wedding was my favorite, even after the 10th table setting was made, I still loved making all of it.
When designing my dress, I was thinking about the look that I was going for and whether or not I felt pretty. I wanted a soft romantic feeling to my dress and wedding, the thought of having tattoos when picking a dress never crossed my mind.
As for matching tattoos, he will not be getting the my whole name tattooed on him and his name on me, but we do want small symbols for each other. Joe is a tattoo artist so it means even more to me that he will be tattooing a fish hook on my left ring finger and he will be getting a small pillow with an embroidered ‘R’ on it.
Our day was everything I have always wanted!
How gorgeous is Nicole & Joe’s wedding? Thank you to them both and to Ashley Jane Photography for sharing their day with Marry Me Ink today. There’s a full list of suppliers at the end of the feature – be sure to leave them all some love!
