Today I get to share with you this gorgeous outdoor wedding of Katie and Wesley, which is perfect for our current weather! They were married at Shepherd’s Field in Oregon with wonderful images from N-E Photography.
We actually work together, and that’s where it all started.. We had been friends for a few years but nothing romantic. I always had a secret crush on him, but I was in a serious relationship at the time, and he always had flings of his own! Finally things with my ex were starting to crumble and I started to confide in him for advice because I trusted him. He ended up sweeping me off my feet and showing me what I really needed!
The highlight of our wedding was getting to share my vows. We wrote our own vows and I had poured my heart into mine and made sure that they were absolutely perfect. Also getting to see him cry as I read them to him. It was just the most special moment.
We did everything ourselves. Literally. Except for the flowers, which we had done by a friend. My husband is very handy and creative and we wanted to make sure it was very unique. One of my favourite things we did was finding a bunch of old vintage wheelbarrows and using them to keep beer in. I also glued lace around mason jars to hold candles as part of the centrepieces. That was a fun project to do!
I knew that my tattoos were going to show, and I originally wanted a strapless dress with a sweat heart neckline, but as soon as I tried the dress on that I ended up wearing, I knew it was perfect, and I loved the way it showed my favourite tattoos on my arms, and I loved how the vintage style of the dress went so well with our theme.
My advice – Don’t get too wrapped up in the details. Sometimes less is more, and especially spend time on the most unique details and perfect them, rather than trying to add too much. Also, showcase your ink! No matter what anyone in your family says, they look wicked cool in the pictures and they’re part of what make you, you!
How cute are Katie and Warren?! I adore the colours of their wedding – it has a gorgeous glow against all the vintage ans rustic vibes. Thank you to them both and to N-E Photography for sharing their wedding with Marry Me Ink today!
