Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Karen and Tyler’s cosy autumn engagement shoot from Lily and Lane Photography. They both met when Karen had nearly given with online dating.. Their story is wonderful.
Tyler and I met online. Our experiences were quite different – I was the second person he met, he was more like 100th and I almost called the date off because I was so sick of online dating. I waited in the parking lot of Beacon Hill Park, and sat beside a peacock on the curb waiting by the petting zoo. Tyler was late, as his sister had just called to tell him she had an ultrasound and was having a baby girl (super cute memory now.) I was trying to avoid talking to a man who was barbecuing fish out of the back of his truck and telling me his life story. When I saw Tyler walk over, I leapt up and we had a good laugh about him rescuing me.
We went for a walk around the park, walked to the cemetery and looked at all the cool old headstones (we both love history). Then we doubled back to the park and sat on a bench and watched the ducks until dark. I sat in my car afterwards, “safety-calling” my mum, and said, “I really like him. He’s different.”
We had talked about getting married, so it definitely wasn’t a surprise. In fact, he told me, “I’m going to propose when you’re on holidays”, which actually made it more exciting. We went for a walk in Beacon Hill Park, and he told me why he thought I would make a good life partner. I told him the same, and we found a private spot by a bench in front of a duck pond, surrounded by trees. He, “officially proposed” and we sat on the bench feeling stunned and excited. It started to pour rain so we sat under our umbrella for a little while before driving over to tell my parents.
My tattoos are fairly small (two on my wrists, and around my foot and ankle) but I feel like they’re a part of me and don’t mind showing them off. I was actually hoping to have MORE tattoos before the wedding. I had always imagined myself with a bigger piece by now, but I haven’t gotten around to it.
How cute is Karen and Tyler’s story? I can’t wait to see their wedding! Thank you to them both and to Lily and Lane Photography for sharing with Marry Me Ink today.
