Earlier this year, new, disruptive bridal wear company Lucky Sixpence Bridal held a look book fashion shoot with other like minded suppliers. Lucky Sixpence Bridal fancy themselves as ‘bridal outfitters for badass brides’ and their models certainly did have a badass vibe amongst them! The shoot comprised of a look from each of the decades 40s to 80s and together the models formed their own bridal girlgang. The aesthetic was a nod to Wes Anderson with a heavy representation of cake courtesy of bespoke designs from Kooky Bakes and the sumptuous dark wood and leather of the Boulogne Bar.
The nod to the 50s was portrayed by the wonderful tattooed lady, Verity, wearing Lucky Sixpence Bridal’s ‘Rita’ dress – a soft take on the classic 50s shape with a sequinned bodice and a lace peeking out from under the skirt. Paired with some classic Vivienne Westwood X Melissa heels she embodied the modern pinup, ready to elope into the sunset!
Lucky Sixpence Bridal curate and rejuvenate vintage and preloved bridal wear, working one on one with brides to be to tweak and upcycle their dresses. With this level of attention to detail and customisation you might expect the dresses to cost fortunes but the price point is crazy good with a preloved dress, with simple alterations costing around £300!
The lookbook shoot certainly showcased the exciting opportunities available to brides who choose to tweak a fabulous piece for their own big days. With the added bonus of up cycling being eco friendly and working with designers in the UK, looking good doesn’t have to cost the earth!
How gorgeous are the Lucky Sixpence Bridal dresses?! They source their dresses primarily from the UK and are amazingly able to support a number of charities such as FARA, Cancer Research UK, Thames Hospice and Reagan Jack’s Rainbow.
