A Muddy, Enchanting DIY Wedding – Mariah & Nathan

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Mariah and Nathan’s DIY wedding from Miss Lyss Photography that took place at her family’s house. It rained the whole day and their idea of an outdoor wedding quickly became a muddy one.

If you want me to be honest, the whole day was the highlight of the wedding for me. I really didn’t think it was going to turn out as well as it did because it was pouring for the whole day and we had the wedding in a tent at my grandparents’ house and it was just so freaking muddy out there. We had to improvise for a lot of stuff last minute. So many people helped in making it special and moving stuff around to accommodate the rain. From start to finish it was the best day ever. I am so thankful for everyone and how much was put into it.

The entire wedding was basically done by the family DIY style. I think the only real thing we didn’t DIY was the DJ and the Flowers.  The whole theme was vintage and 1920’s style. We tried extremely hard to stick to I that concept and it was hard finding stuff that fit that so we did a lot.

I love my tattoos. I really wanted them to show and be in everything because every tattoo has a special meaning or memory to go along with it. So when picking my dress I really tried to find something that would show them. I tried on a lot of dresses… and I do mean a lot. Sleeves, no sleeves, strapless, tank top and everything in between but I found that I loved the strapless because it let me show my tattoos and they are apart of me so I wanted them to be out.

The best advice that I can give a bride is don’t let anyone shame you about letting your tattoos show. People close to me kept asking me if I honestly wanted my tattoos showing in my pictures and why wasn’t I covering my tattoos because they aren’t attractive on a bride. Do what you want! It’s your wedding! Also have fun with the wedding planning process and don’t sweat the small stuff. When it comes to it no one is going to remember what color the table cloths are or what kind of glass they drank out of. So honestly, don’t sweat it!

How amazing does Mariah and Nathan’s wedding look? I love how every one of their friends and family came together to make it an awesome time despite the rain. Thank you to them both and to Miss Lyss Photography for sharing with Marry Me Ink today.
