Winter is Coming! Okay, maybe not *quite* yet – It is still only August. Louise and Chris had their wedding North of The Wall at one of my favourite Manchester city hotels King Street Townhouse and their day was beautifully captured by Nik Bryant Photography.
We met in 2008 at a mutual friends house party. We were both dating other people at the time and it wasn’t until five years later when we started talking online and then went on a date. We bonded over our mutual love of Game of thrones and the rest is history!
The venue was one of the main things that represented us as a couple – we decided to get married at King Street Townhouse in Manchester because of its quirky style and beautiful views of the city. Manchester was where we had our first date and our relationship developed. I’m from Oldham and Chris moved to Salford from America at a young age so it was important to us to tie the knot in the city that brought us together. We chose Game of Thrones as our theme as we’re both huge fans and it’s what got us talking again after all those years. Every detail from cufflinks to the flowers was all us, there wasn’t one detail on the day that didn’t feel like us.
The most DIY we did for our wedding was design the wedding invites ourselves with the help of a very good friend. We designed them in the theme and had them drawn digitally and printed ourselves, we also had wax and seal for the envelopes. We also made wildfire shots using apple Sourz in mini vials and also had a game of thrones shot glass for each guest as favours.
My tattoos did factor in when choosing a wedding dress. I really struggled finding the right dress, I must’ve visited at least five stores and tried on god knows how many dresses! I didn’t want my dress to clash with my tattoos or look like I had too much going on. I wanted something quite subtle but not plain, I knew I wanted a strapless fish tail dress. The dress I chose in the end suited my body type and my tattoos exactly how I wanted.
Our advice to other couples would be to keep the wedding personal to you – Don’t be afraid to trying something different and definitely don’t worry about pleasing other people. The day is yours and it should be about the two of you as a couple and the commitment you are making to one another. Mostly importantly, have fun!
There wasn’t one particular moment that was our favourite on the day we had too many! From family and friends travelling over from Canada and America, to the most amazing themed cake and the venue itself, everything came together and made our day really special.
How epic is Louise and Chris’ wedding day? I love the Wildfire and shot glasses as favours and it was so unique to them both as a couple. Thank you to them both and to Nik Bryant Photography for sharing their day with Marry Me Ink.
