This engagement shoot is the coolest one I’ve seen in a long time and from The Pin-Up Bride – Sam the groom-to-be works at Relics and Rust which is how he and fiance Emma, whilst exhibiting at a tattoo convention.
The proposal was amazing! I actually had no idea it was gonna happen. We had been doing the Route 66 and were about to head up to the Grand Canyon, I jokingly mentioned about how I ‘bet it would be an amazing place for a proposal’ little did I know it would be happening to me! It was quite funny actually as we ditched the tourist entrance and he took me to a secluded spot with spectacular views, Sam kept trying to get me to come closer to the edge, I’m super scared of heights so that wasn’t happening. Then he got down on one knee. Can’t top that moment, I was in total disbelief!
Being a tattooist myself I felt it’s so important to show off my tattoos as they’re part of me. I’m pretty fully covered and have a full backpiece and now working on a full frontal torso piece so really wanted to show this off. I’ve chosen a vintage lace backless gown for when we get married – the lace at the back really frames my backpiece in a pretty, delicate manner! Who wouldn’t want to show off their tattoos on a wedding day?! That’s one of the things Sam loves about me so I wouldn’t want to cover up!
As for “couples tattoos” – We opted to get cacti as we saw tonnes of them while on our trip, these were done at a studio in Phoenix, at the end of our road trip in America. Mine is black and grey and his is colour, so they aren’t totally matching. It was a great reminder of our travels and time on the Route 66 so I feel it holds more meaning then just a ‘matching’ tattoo.
How gorgeous are Emma & Sam?! I can’t wait to see how epic their wedding day is! Thank to The Pin-Up Bride for sharing with Marry Me Ink!
