Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Charlotte & Tom’s Nottingham wedding from Nathan Walker Photography. Charlotte and her Mum created lots of the decor for the day including their bouquets and wedding favours – Charlotte even got her dress from a charity shop and had it altered to fit.
“It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! If you are willing to make things yourself and spend the time it’s really worth it. I also found that it made it so much more personal and meant so much more when you saw your handy work displayed.”
We both are quite alternative and didn’t want anything traditional so we just followed our own path with a lot of things – Tattoos were on display and having our reception under a marquee where we had spent many a summer night out in their beer garden just felt right. Oh, and we also had quotes from the Peep Show as centre pieces – me and Tom love that show!
We had a lot of DIY elements that we created for our day – We made the flower bouquets out of Gypsophila and made our own wildflower seed filled wedding favours. My mum made some beautiful paper flowers that we tied onto a garden arch for the entrance way to the marquee. I purchased my dress from a charity shop and always wanted a vintage feel so we had it altered to fit my vision – it just screamed it at me, covered in lace and the A-line silhouette!
My most memorable moment was on the dance floor, dancing with Tom and just taking a moment to stop and look around seeing all my friends and family having such a good time and being care free. Also an honourable mention would have to be the joint best man speech (complete with a projector with pictures) it made me cry with laughter and just made everyone know Tom a little better!
We were joining names in becoming Mr & Mrs Mrs Mathews-Bee, so we both got tattoos of a bee to celebrate the day – I placed mine on my arm and Tom got his neck tattooed!
I’m absolutely in love with Charlotte & Tom’s wedding. How perfect to have in their favourite beer garden? Thank you to them both and to Nathan Walker Photography for sharing their day with Marry Me Ink.
