I love weddings where the couples are doing things differently and not following the same old traditions, but instead, doing things their own way. As a pretty tattooed guy myself, I appreciate good art, and know how awesome alternative couples are, and I use them to make awesome pictures.

Weird & Wonderful Wedding Entertainment

Today I get to share with you a fabulous post from Megan Kent of Qwerty Creative about alternative entertainment bars and acts for your wedding day!

Wedding planning can be difficult and it’s just as hard to come up with original ideas. This article aims to give you some inspiration to ensure your big day is as unique as you are.

Your wedding day should always reflect yours and your hubby’s personalities perfectly. With that being said, have a think about what tone you want to set for your day and any themes you want to include. What could you do with the space provided at your venue? Top tip: Pinterest is a great place to start.

OXYGEN BAR

Oxygen bars have become increasingly popular in recent years. They claim that by breathing in 99% pure oxygen, you will be energised, relaxed and  invigorated. Although popular at UK festivals, Oxygen bars are still quite a rare thing to come across at a wedding. Why not start a trend? You can choose from a selection of aroma oils for different scents, tastes and results. How cool is that? I’m sure your guests will be dying to give it a go!

Thinking about a funfair theme?

Want to create a fun-fuelled atmosphere? If you’re envisioning a funfair theme, you can’t go wrong with candyfloss and popcorn machines. They’ll also fit right in if you’re planning a vintage, rustic affair. Iconic sweet treats not only add a quirky element to your day, they are sure to be a winner with little ones too. Make your wedding memorable by filling it with cotton candy, popcorn and magical fairground rides!

If you haven’t seen Jay, Sarah or myself sneak peeking last Tuesday’s shoot on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter – Where the heck have you been?

What started out as a free day to be able to travel down to Birmingham for Jay and myself to play around and hang out – turned out to be one of the most laid back and fun shoots I’ve done yet.

With Sarah’s Doo Wop Dos‘ hair & make-up magic, The Couture Company‘s stunning gowns and hairpieces, Strange Case Collective‘s huge colourful paper flowers and the fab surroundings of The Custard Factory – last Tuesday we ended departing super excited for another shoot already!

So I met with Sarah off the train and we headed straight up to The Custard Factory where Jo showed me a glimpse of what dresses I’d get to prance around in  – I was so excited! Sarah got her mini salon set up in one of the studios including rollers heating and shadow palette out whilst Jay went to the impromptu spring garden and arranged the fabulous paper flowers from Strange Case Collective.

Both dresses were a dream to wear!

This first dress from The Couture Company was my favourite of the two I wore on the day. Just everything about it was perfect – the laser cut flowers, the off the shoulder straps, the multicoloured buttons, the skirt pleats THAT waterfall hemline..

Feather And Leather

Steampunk Petrified Forest-4354

Today I get to share with you a fantastic shoot from Kat Forsyth Photography who is Gwenda of Fearless Florals’ partner in crime for shoots of the more alternative persuasion (Gwenda is also modelling!) – Her ability to capture drama and mood with both intensity and refinement is exceptional.

“I have always had a huge affinity with the Steampunk aesthetic and had been waiting for the right concept and collaborators to come along to create a shoot in this genre.” explains Gwenda.

The peacock feather dress had spent time languishing in my wardrobe, waiting for it’s time to shine and, paired with a this was the perfect opportunity! Anneke of Retromorphosist took the colours of the feather as inspiration for her exquisite make-up and wrangled some rather uncooperative real feather lashes into place. She also expertly tamed an unruly wig into position allowing a top hat fascinator I made for the occasion to complete the outfit.

I used roses, hypericum, alstroemeria, waxflower and hydrangea combined with Cape Greens to create a colourful and heavily textured bouquet and table flowers.
