A Peacock Coloured, Norman Santa Fe Depot Wedding – Dawn & Brent

RobynIcksPhotography-122

I love how totally unique today’s tattooed bride and groom are! Dawn and Brent’s wedding took place at the Norman Santa Fe Depot – not only a railway station, but a gallery, concert venue and a beautiful space. I got the chance to speak to photographer Robyn Icks about Dawn and Brent’s wedding day..

Dawn and Brent’s wedding had tons of wonderful elements that I just adore: authentic souls, lovely nature, springtime, family, love, tears, purples and blues, peacock feathers, tattoos and piercings galore, guitars, trains and an extremely charming location.

For an April wedding, I have to say the weather actually pleasantly surprised me. It was, hands-down, the best weather I’ve ever experienced at a wedding. It stayed about 70degrees and slightly overcast the whole day, which equals a photographer’s dream.

And speaking of a photographer’s dream, The Santa Fe Historical Depot in Norman is an absolutely lovely and stellar location for a wedding venue!  I love the historic ambiance and all of the local art featured inside. Definitely recommended for your venue.

A DIY, Bohemian Celebration Of Love – Roxie & Paul

MMI_3643

Today I get to share with you this gorgeous intimate Manchester wedding with a bohemian vibe from Icon Photography Studios. Roxie and Paul did everything themselves – Invitations, flowers, decorations and dress alterations!

MMI_3632

I actually met Paul through Facebook four years ago! It sounds ridiculous but we had friends in common and I friend requested Paul as I knew he was a photographer and had worked with a lot of my friends who were models. I had seen pictures of him on Facebook at a burlesque event he had attended and he was wearing a pinstripe suit, he caught my eye straight away. I then sat up all night looking at all his photography images on Facebook and liking them. Which lead to Paul waking up the next morning to over fifty likes on Facebook, which definitely got his attention! I just didn’t know he had already been through my pictures and I already had his attention!

We then started talking via inbox, which turned to texting then meeting up for our first date! We went out to an alternative student night in Manchester that involved lots of cider, laughing a lot and at the end of the night kissing up against the wall outside like teenagers! I knew I felt a special connection that night but I didn’t want to rush things so we arranged to meet the day after and we have not been apart since! We are truly best friends.

Back in November, Rob and myself had the chance to stay in the gorgeous country house that is Ox Pasture Country House & Hotel in Scarborough and I just had to share our weekend with you!

On arrival, we were greeted with the beautiful greenery and scenery (Idyllic for a garden wedding) and also other couples who were staying along with their furry friends!

One thing I absolutely loved about Ox Pasture Hall was how welcoming the staff were and how easily they were to accommodate everybody. There were families and couples with their dogs who were able to enjoy the hotel and extensive menu and then there was me, the dairy intolerant who is picky about what she eats.

How easily it was for them to accommodate my allergy was one of the best things for me.. This included dairy-free afternoon tea!

MMI_3580Seriously – I think I ate and drank my weight in scones and cups of tea!

After our scrumptious afternoon tea – we were shown to our room (The honeymoon/bridal suite). This came with a large lounge area with great views of the gardens, and HUGE bed (I promise I didn’t jump all over it) and a lovely bathroom for a big bath of bubbles! Continue reading

Rock ‘n Race – A Whiskey,Smoke and Tattoo Filled Inspiration Shoot

MMI_3485

I absolutely LOVED this shoot when photographer Leon of Flier! sent this over. The words whiskey, tattoos and Dalmatians had my full attention! (Seriously – DALMATIANS!)

MMI_3486

The styling of the shoot looks so dramatic against against the white walls of the warehouse, it’s too hard to pick my favourite bits – Though I do love the table dressing with the taxidermy! I had the chance to speak to Leon of Flier! about the idea behind the Rock ‘n Race shoot.

MMI_3530

During a brainstorm session it became clear: Let’s create an non-standard wedding shoot, awesome and really out-of-the-box. To present a shoot to show wedding couples that everything and anything is possible. A shoot inspired by the tattoos of the outstanding bride and her groom. Rough but with a classy look… So we did!

MMI_3551

I got to work with some of the best professional suppliers in the wedding industry. This was important, because with a theme that is so outspoken, it’s necessary that everything fits perfectly together. We found the perfect location – A great wedding venue with several industrial, rough and ‘rock and roll’ spaces. They also have a kart-track in the house! We created this shoot ‘Rock ’n Race’ with awesome styling inspired by the colors black, white, red and gold and connected them with the words Rock, Tattoo, Whiskey, Cigars, Smoke, Roses, Lace, Kart-Track and Dalmatians!
