Love Letters – When You Know, You Know

seth-lauren-st-pete-engagement-12

Today on Marry Me Ink from Savannah Lauren Photography is Seth and Lauren’s gorgeous tattooed and bearded engagement shoot.

I met Seth two years ago. He was invited to join me and his sister Savannah for Indian food. About a year later, July 2015, I had accidentally invited him to an event where we watched a movie in the park. Seth came up to me and thanked me for inviting him. We started talking that day and we haven’t really stopped talking since.

I knew I wanted to marry Seth only a few weeks into dating him and I had never felt that way about anyone else. He felt the same way. It really is like they say “When you know, you know”. We both definitely knew! Seth was clear about his intentions with me and that helped us to build trust really quickly.

A Video Game Wedding Between Two Rockers – Abby & Reid

AbbyReid16

Today’s tattooed bride and groom is Abby and Reid who had a short and sweet wedding ceremony but then rocked the night away at their awesome gig venue The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY with photography from Justine Johnson Photography. They both met prior to a video game convention online.. Seriously their story is awesome.

AbbyReid1

We met volunteering at a video game convention called PAX — Reid is from Seattle originally, and I’m from Los Angeles. We started chatting online in the volunteer chat room, and became really good long-distance friends. We had mutual interests in punk music, art, and video games. Reid finished grad school, moved to New York to start a job in physics… and then we decided to date because our mutual attraction was too strong! I was still finishing school in Los Angeles, so through video games, chatting and visits, we managed to do long distance for 2.5 years.

We did this wedding all on our own so basically everything from the venue (a music venue in Brooklyn called The Bell House) to the music (we played all sorts of punk during our cocktail hour) to our Street Fighter cake toppers were 100% us! We also had a fuss-free reception with our favorite Cambodian sandwiches, along with cupcakes. You can hold all of these while dancing.

We made 90% of our decorations, including the bouquets and boutonnières. The most fun was the PVC pipe trellis (cut in the snow!) The trellis was decorated with handmade tassels and then jerryrigged by someone who is very good with knots.

I didn’t have the tattoo when I searched for dresses, but I knew something was going to be on my arm. I definitely wanted something with either no or short sleeves.

An Magical Outdoor Wedding Picnic – Meagan & Micah

AJWP_MMI_0028

Today is Marry Me Ink’s final post of 2015.. How quick has this year gone? I’m not going to do a year round up post this year – There would be far too much to try and fit in! Instead, I’m going to share with you Meagan and Micah’s inmate, outdoor wedding from Allison Jeffers Photography.

AJWP_MMI_0008

My sister is married to a fire fighter and she had just had a baby. (my niece) I was over at her house seeing the baby and Micah showed up to see my brother in law. He is also a fire fighter. He asked my brother in law about me and the rest is history.

We had a small, intimate wedding, and we both don’t like to make things big and flashy. We did it outdoors with very woodsy colors and we both love being outside.

Our entire wedding was DIY. I painted, spray painted, glued, and made many trips to Hobby Lobby. I am big on making things myself and crafting is something I enjoy, so the DIY aspect of the wedding was very important to me.

I definitely took my tattoos into consideration when searching for my dress – I love the classic look with tattoos and needed mine to show!

A Tim Burton Inspired Gothic Bridal Shoot – Way Out Wedding

FinalsWOW (371 of 572)

Today I get to share with you this gorgeous tattooed Tim Burton inspiration wedding shoot from a fantastic team including Erin of Way Out Wedding, The Couture CompanyNicki Feltham Photography and many more.

ERIN – WAY OUT WEDDING

The inspiration for the shoot was simply Tim Burton. The team members are all huge fans of the quirky gothic styling he brings to his films, and so our Pinterest planning board was fantastic!! We focused on his women characters to bring it into the bridal world, and we had a two-part story: one was how his blonde and innocent heroines (e.g. Johanna in Sweeney Todd) would dress for a wedding, and the other was how his anti-heroines (Victoria from The Corpse Bride, or Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd again) would style themselves.

The styling was bold and arresting – think skull jewellery, gothic dresses, in-your-face make-up, a dark denim coloured naked cake covered in vintage lace, gothic millinery, amazing flower crowns, a quirky venue, and taxidermy – and yet all the elements were perfect for an alternative wedding and not at all alienating for real life.

When Erin asked me if I’d like to do the photography for her Tim Burton styled bridal shoot, I jumped at the chance. Between us, we gathered together quite a strong troop of amazing suppliers and some absolutely stunning models, too, and on the day we both came up with some fabulous ideas for creative shots – we worked so well as a team.
