My name is Barbara and I love genuine people and unconventional weddings

I live in London but I love travelling. I love flip-flops, picnics, vintage furniture, eating with chopsticks, looking at the sky, watching fringe shows and people who follow their dreams. And be warned, I seem to be using the word ‘love’ too often.

What inspires me is YOU, your personality and your unique wedding! Then, when I shoot, I get drawn to details, colours, texture, graphic elements, interesting artificial light and apparently walls!

Love Letters – A Cute, Urban Motel Engagement Shoot

MMI_5162

Great news guys – We’re back up and running after about 10 days of technical difficulties! Today is the start of an abundance of wonderful tattooed posts coming your way!

First up is this tattooed beauty Emily and Joey’s engagement shoot from Terribly In Love Photography (Who is actually engaged to Emily’s cousin – how amazing?!) Emily was on Pinterest searching for tattooed bride and wedding inspiration when she came across the Marry Me Ink boards showing off all the amazing brides who do not try to hide their tattoos on their wedding day. Also, Emily and Joey have the most wonderful story of how they met..

Joey and I met in 2011 when I moved into the apartment above where he was living at the time in Seattle (it was an old Hollywood-style building where the doors go right outside, like a hotel). At first we just saw each other almost every day whenever we were coming or going, but never really spoke.  Once we finally introduced ourselves a couple of months later we quickly became really good friends, then best friends and even decided to move in together later on (still as friends) when both of our leases were up to a place in a different apartment building.

Long story short, we eventually realized that we had feelings for each other, so we decided to take the leap from friends to something more and never looked back. As terrifying as it was to put our friendship at risk like that it was, hands down, the best decision that either of us has ever made and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life being in love with my best friend!

A Glastonbury Abbey Handfasting – Heather & Wayne

MMI_5111

Today  I get to share with you Heather & Rob’s beautiful outdoor handfasting ceremony at Glastonbury Abbey from Marry Me Ink sponsor Kelly J Photography

MMI_5103

I always think of Wayne as my Knight in Shining armour, and he treats me like his Queen. So having our handfasting at the iconic Glastonbury Abbey, burial place of King Arthur & his queen Guinevere- was really symbolic. We even used Wayne’s large ornamental sword in the ceremony.

We chose a pagan handfasting instead of a traditional Christian church ceremony. A lovely Interfaith female Minister Nixie James-Scott from Unique Ceremony worked with us to create something personal and unusual.

We wrote our own vows, and Nixie’s husband, Palmer Fox-Eldridge (a music legend who’s performed at Glastonbury festival), played a live acoustic version of his song ‘Valentine’ as our hands were bound in a purple and gold cord. Our children lit my special goddess incense, then played around in the orchard during the ‘boring’ bits.

I decided to choose an untraditional flowing purple fairy-goddess dress, with sheer sleeves and a low cut top- so my arm and breast tattoos could be seen.

A Wedding Of Motorcycles, Hot Rods And Love – Hannah & Rob

MMI_5030

Today’s tattooed bride and groom is Hannah and Rob. They both met each other online which, even though they both only joined it because it was free, Hannah said that  she found to learn so much more about Rob because of only being able to communicate via phone after the first initial messages. Their day was beautifully captured by Milwaukee based fine art wedding photographer McKenna Marie.

Really, the entirety of the day was a true representation to who we are as a couple. We made a point of keeping the cost of everything under $2,000 and successfully did so! We wanted our guests to be as comfortable as possible and encouraged them to arrive on their motorcycles and in their hot rods. Our relationship has been built on motorcycles, hot rods, and love. We wanted that to be an element to the day. We did not serve a meal which in turn saved on cost and instead opted for a cocktail hour with a nacho bar since Rob could basically live off them. We couldn’t believe how many people raved about how delicious they were.

We hung lights everywhere we could in the barn to give it a rustic, romantic, cozy vibe. The feel was truly that perfect summer night.
