A Backyard Wedding In Fontana – Corrina & Brian

CorinnBrianMMI_3224

Today I get to share with you gorgeous grey haired and tattooed bride Corrina and her military groom Brian and their backyard wedding day from Valerie Ronin Photography. Corrina has a gorgeous 50s vibe to her hair and I think she looks absolutely stunning! Also – How great does Brian look in his uniform? Their day was filled with thrift store teacups, mason jars, DIY wedding favours and gorgeous cake!

Brian and I met through his sister at a party in 2007 where he was on leave from his army duties. Well that night Brian decided to dump nachos on my head in the middle of a conversation me and his sister were having.. WHY?!! I have no idea, nor does he or anyone at the party. I was super angry but after 2 minutes we all laughed and continued to party. After that night, we all became close friends through the years.

In 2013, I needed a plus one to my friends’ wedding so I asked Brian to be my plus one and he said yes. We just started hanging out a lot more and texting on a daily basis (lots of flirting) and  July 4th at a pool  party, and pretty wasted on fireball whiskey, (that’s our “drink”) we kissed and now are married. So 7 years of friendship, 1 year of us and many more to come. I really honestly married one of my best friends!!!

A Beautiful DIY Backyard Wedding – Jenny & Eric

JNE

Today I am so excited to share Jenny & Eric’s wedding from Matt Miller of Diamond Eyes Photography that took place at their own house under two huge tents and featured their family and their won pets as their table numbers. It’s so beautiful. I love all the colours!

Eric and I met very randomly at a New Year’s Eve party in Marfa, TX.  I was living in Austin at the time and he was in Chicago.  We were both kind of persuaded to go to the middle of nowhere by our friends, none of whom knew each other.  My Austin friends were throwing a NYE party at an empty gallery that Eric and his friends just happened to stop into while looking for something to do.  I spotted him across the room and dubbed him my “future husband.”  After a few drinks I introduced myself to him and we hit it off instantly.  The next day we had our first date to see the Marfa Lights (Google it) and then I never thought I’d see him again.  Once we were both back in our respective cities we began chatting all day everyday while we were both supposed to be working.  Two weeks later he booked a flight to come visit me in Austin and we began a long distance courtship that lasted over a year until I moved to Chicago.

“We tried to make the whole wedding feel very “Jenny and Eric.”  We were both pretty adamant about having a short, non-denominational ceremony officiated by one of our close friends and a very fun reception.”

The whole wedding took place at our house; the ceremony was in our front yard under a big oak tree with tons of Spanish moss, and the reception was in our backyard under 2 large tents.  Our guests really enjoyed the photo booth that our photographer Matt Miller set up and I worked very closely with the DJ to curate a playlist that we’d all love.  The table numbers all featured our own pets and the pets of the wedding party and family members, which was a really sweet little detail.

A Backyard Wedding With The Bride In Blue – Curtis & Bailie

2013-09-17_0027

“We wanted the entire wedding to really focus on the fact that our relationship existed with the constant nourishment of our family and friends”

Firstly, Bailie is in a gorgeous blue Betsey Johnson dress. Secondly, Curtis is wearing chequered Vans. Thirdly, these gorgeous photos were taken by One O.A.K Photography! What else is there that can make this wedding more awesome? Their reception took place on the roof of the Lincoln Centre!

My husband, Curtis and I met when he tattooed me.  After spending numerous hours together, we found out that we had a lot in common.  We ended up running into one another every single night for two weeks straight after that, so I guess our relationship just naturally formed from that.

The highlight of our wedding day was riding a borrowed tandem bicycle with my husband from our home to the reception in my wedding dress. It was a special time that we were able to enjoy as a couple before being surrounded by everyone again, and was a funny sight to see I’m sure.

“We kept things true to who we were… From the decorations to the custom invitation to the vegan food, it was all things we loved.”

The morning before the wedding, my husband and I decorated the yard and house with different items I had made using vintage ribbons, tablecloths and antiques of my grandmothers as well as lots of paper and flower bunting. I had the most fun setting up oversized paper flowers around the backyard…it looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
