Dia De Los Muertos – The Mexican Bridal Party

IMG_1833a

There’s nothing I love more than a colourful bridal party. Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you these gorgeous Dia Do Los Muertos brides from Lisa Gigante Photography who wanted to create something colourful and unique for her latest shoot.

The reasoning for this shoot is the fact I never get a chance, unfortunately, to shoot a wedding that would be classed as ‘really off the wall’ and so I thought I’d break the mould (I did a steampunk themed bridal shoot last year) and have a bit of fun, still bridal but with the colours of the Mexican Dia de los Muertos theme. I love the colours.

The flowers and the look of the face painting.. Its amazing and the suppliers I asked were very excited to be involved. To the point the lady that supplied the silk flower head pieces was thrilled to be able  to make something a bit ‘different’ for a change.

The dress designer I used last year in the steampunk shoot, made my wedding dress too (which is featured being worn by one of the models!). So aims and inspirations is purely to show another side of bridal… a bit of fun and some raging colours outside of the usual ivories and cremes that we are still seeing at the moment.

Two Worlds Apart – A Time Lapse Engagement Shoot

MMI_0379

I’ve been so excited about sharing this styled engagement shoot with you from Lizzie of Do It Momma.

MMI_0375

When speaking to Lizzie, the main concept of the shoot was to create a story using two models (Lottie and Henry) who were shot on two different days but in the same location, to create the image of the boy following the girl until he finally caught up with her.

The shoot was actually inspired by Lottie.  She has a very dramatic look and after seeing her with lace eye transfers on at a social event I knew I wanted to photograph her in a way that would allow me to experiment with more dramatic editing.

Lottie alone is striking and gave me so much to play with but as a wedding photographer I always wanted to partner her up!  It’s good to call on friends and Henry served as the perfect accompaniment.

A Classic Neon Rock & Roll Shoot

MMI_0303

Today I get to share with you this awesome rock & roll tattooed styled shoot  full of neon colours from Belle Tulle Events, Liquid Crystal Photography and many more suppliers! Jeneen of Belle Tulle Events sent through this awesome shoot last month and I just had to share it!

MMI_0289

“Crystal and I came up with the idea for this shoot because we LOVE working with brides and grooms who have their own styles and are willing to push boundaries with colors and design.”

We find a lot of alternative brides may not hire certain vendors because they think they will get stuck in a traditional look but we wanted to show that there are many sides to our styles and what we can do for our couples.

MMI_0283

We were so excited once we got our colors (neon pink, yellow, lime, black and gold) and styles on the drawing board (we were really into lace, crinkle texture, jewels, glam, and skulls), and when we got our vendors in tow, you could just feel the gusto with which everyone participated. Once our stationer, Scripted Ever After, came up with the neon and skull motif for the invitations, we knew we were on the right track.

Bee Ridge Florist was so excited to be doing something different, that she even gave us her skull earrings to use in the centrepiece arrangements! Custom Linens provided tablecloths for the head, cupcake, and favor tables which provided a really elegant backdrop, and accented the gold chiavari chairs and the art-deco chandelier hanging over the head-table.

If you haven’t seen Jay, Sarah or myself sneak peeking last Tuesday’s shoot on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter – Where the heck have you been?

What started out as a free day to be able to travel down to Birmingham for Jay and myself to play around and hang out – turned out to be one of the most laid back and fun shoots I’ve done yet.

With Sarah’s Doo Wop Dos‘ hair & make-up magic, The Couture Company‘s stunning gowns and hairpieces, Strange Case Collective‘s huge colourful paper flowers and the fab surroundings of The Custard Factory – last Tuesday we ended departing super excited for another shoot already!

So I met with Sarah off the train and we headed straight up to The Custard Factory where Jo showed me a glimpse of what dresses I’d get to prance around in  – I was so excited! Sarah got her mini salon set up in one of the studios including rollers heating and shadow palette out whilst Jay went to the impromptu spring garden and arranged the fabulous paper flowers from Strange Case Collective.

Both dresses were a dream to wear!

This first dress from The Couture Company was my favourite of the two I wore on the day. Just everything about it was perfect – the laser cut flowers, the off the shoulder straps, the multicoloured buttons, the skirt pleats THAT waterfall hemline..
