DIY Vegan Wedding With A Gothic & Southern Feel – Evan & Sean

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Evan & Sean’s gothic Southern wedding at California’s Old Crocker Inn in from Matthew William Photography.

Evan was living in Fullerton, and was interested in stopping by her favourite little bar nearby, to grab a glass of wine and some freshly made french fries. Perfectly content at sitting on her own and not being bothered while she played games on her phone, surfing the socials and people watching, she couldn’t help but notice the piercing blue eyes of her server, catching her off guard. Trying to get his attention long enough to catch those eyes locking in on her own, she started some small talk with him, asking him about how much he liked working at that bar, and what else he did for a living. Sean was his name and he informed her that he worked at another bar she liked very much, when he wasn’t working there.

As the basket of fries diminished, the table next to her was annoyingly specific with what they wanted, asking silly requests and clearly frustrating Sean while he tried to take their order and satisfy them. Evan and Sean locked eyes and exchanged multiple funny glares at the odd requests they made. Sean smirked at Evan while taking her neighbouring table’s order, and she smiled back.

Evan decided she would just have to show up at that other bar as well, to offer another chance opportunity for their paths to cross. Doodling all over her check for Sean to see, she headed for the door and she was leaving, he called out to her, standing in the middle of the aisle when he should’ve been working and said, “Goodbye Evan!” She turned around, startled by someone calling her name, as she was stuck in her head, high on the flirt, and awkwardly ran into the door on her way out saying, “Oh! Bye . . . Sean!”

Less than 24 hours went by before Sean had found Evan on Instagram, and followed her. She immediately followed him back (although he didn’t post much), and another day or two went by before she slyly showed up at his other bar, just to see if he remembered her. As soon as she walked through the bar door, he made a spot for her right at the bar, near him, introduced her to all his regular customers and coworkers, and they talked the night away. They went on their first date that week, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

A Tattooed, Viking Wedding In California – Amber & Caleb

Who loves Vikings? I know we love watching the series when it’s on TV! Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you this awesome tattooed Viking wedding from Blossom and Bloom Photography.

Caleb and I met about 10 years ago in 2006. We were going to a concert with mutual friends and became instantly infatuated with one another. We were only friends at this time, and unfortunately I had to move to Oregon shortly there after. We spoke on and off through social media through the next 5 years, but eventually lost contact. In June of 2013, I was planning a visit to California to see my sister. Caleb had found me on social media, and again we became friends right where we left off. Aside from seeing my sister, when I went to CA, I spent most of my vacation with him. We spoke every single day after that, and within a few months, I moved back to California for good. Caleb took me on my first date the very next day after my plane landed. We were inseparable, and have remained so.

The whole Viking theme in it’s entirety represented us rather well! The small intimate wedding in a simple park, and reception by the beach is also representative. We like to keep it simple!

Almost everything was DIY. However, the wisteria wedding arch specifically was made by myself. It took several months to make, but it was the most fun project by far. Heather photographed it beautifully, and now we get to enjoy sitting under it in our garden.

Aside from having the most important people in our lives there, I’d have to say one of the biggest highlights for us was having Caleb’s father marry us. It meant more than he knows, and he did such a wonderful job.

A Fallbrook Ranch Wedding And Sand Ceremony – Monique and Nate

MMI_2575

“The whole day turning out amazing and so much more than I was expecting”

Today I get to share with you Monique and Nate’s outdoor wedding (including a very special sand ceremony) from Elate Photography that took place at their friends’ Ranch in Fallbrook, California.

Nate’s mom worked in the office at my high school and would take me out to coffee or lunch every week. I babysat his sisters when they were little and was very close to his family. He had moved out at about 15, so I knew of him, but didn’t really know him personally. He had chaperoned my senior prom, and the first time I’d ever talked to him was that night when he commented on my first, and at that time, my only tattoo, asking if it was real and said it was “sick”. Two years later, he contacted me asking for my tattoo artists number because he was interested in some new work. I replied and gave it to him, and that’s when we began talking a little more and getting to know each other. I always thought he was cute when I saw him around and when he would stop by his mom’s office at the school, so I was almost immediately interested.

“Our first date was on Valentine’s Day at the movies. He says that he asked me out for Valentine’s Day because if I didn’t already have plans, he knew I was single.”

We hung out a couple times after that going hiking, out to sushi and walks on the beach, go kart racing and then he took me out for a day at Mission Beach. It was one of the best days of my life. We walked on the boardwalk, went on the rides, took silly pictures and then went back to his house to watch a movie. That night, in his mother’s driveway, sitting on his skateboard, he asked me to be his girlfriend. As he was my first boyfriend ever, I was so nervous and excited. We dated for exactly one year before he proposed. I knew I loved him and wanted to marry him just a couple months into us dating. He had everything I wanted and prayed for in a man and my husband, he’s my best friend, he’s basically a man version of me. The night he proposed was a total surprise! He didn’t tell me where we were going or what we were doing, just for me to treat myself to a new dress and jewelry, and to be ready at 6. We headed to downtown San Diego, and ended up on the Hornblower Valentine’s Day dinner cruise! It was so beautiful and romantic. Nate was acting weird and all nervous. We would sit down and eat a little and then he would want to go out on the deck, then we would sit down and drink a little, and he would want to go back out again… this happened a lot this night.

Finally, towards the end of the night, he took me out to the top deck just as we were going under the Coronado bridge. I was looking out at the city lights, and when I turned around, he was down on one knee, telling me how much he loves me, holding the ring I had picked out! Of course, I instantly started balling and said yes! We celebrated with champagne and dancing to one of our favorite songs, You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling from the movie Top Gun, which just so happen to start playing right when we walked back inside. We met my sister and her husband for drinks after, and everyone was ecstatic.

A Tale Of Two Black Sheep – Carly & Will

Karen-Leah-Photography-034

Today I get to share with you this gorgeous outdoor wedding of two roller derby players from Karen Leah Photography.

Karen-Leah-Photography-020

We first appeared on each other’s radar when my roller derby team went to San Diego to play against his then-girlfriend’s team.  He was there jam timing.  I even have a picture of me skating during warm-ups, and what looks like him watching me.  We didn’t talk to each other, but he found me and friended me on Facebook two days later.  A few months after, they broke up and he moved to Phoenix, while I’m in Los Angeles, and then a few months after that we started chatting online.  We ended up having our first date ten months after that game, while we were both in Las Vegas for RollerCon.

The highlight of our day I would say was when we took our wedding photos with the truck we are restoring together.  By the afternoon, the ceremony was done, emotions were calm, and I finally began to feel like myself in my hair and make up.  We were both relaxed and happy.  It was nice to be with one another without having to juggle friends and family.
