Hello Sailor! Cutes For Your Cupboards! [UK Tattooed Bride Blog]

Good evening! It is my pleasure to introduce to you Becky Ryan Art & Illustration. Becky’s work has a gorgeous retro twist, oozing with vintage glamour. Recently I saw images of her latest venture – Becky’s illustrations on cups and saucers. I want to purchase a set for myself! These are especially my favourite as they are full of nauticalness!

“Hi! I’m Becky Ryan, a freelance artist/illustrator from Liverpool, England, now based in a small town in Derbyshire.

I’ve been working freelance for the past few months since relocating and having to give up my job at Tate Liverpool. I worked (for a very short time!) as a waitress, but didn’t enjoy it at all, so decided to try and really go for it with my art, and now it’s my only source of income, the dream being to eventually earn enough to make a living from.
I specialise in portraits but also dabble in logo design and I am available for commission!

“I’m inspired by bits of everything really, but at the minute vintage style and the burlesque scene are heavy influences. My personal interests are comedy – romcoms, music, animals,  old photographs, and handwritten letters. I feel that I’m quite a sentimental person, and that comes across in my drawings, which have been described as delicate and feminine.

Recently I’ve done a lot of work for burlesque performers and took part in my first ever gallery exhibition this year in London as part of a group show called ‘A Brush With Burlesque’ in which I exhibited 8 portraits of performers such as Anna Fur Laxis and Missy Malone.

“Also this year, I started my own range of hand-painted crockery featuring my own designs. The range is called ‘Hello Sailor!’ as it is inspired by vintage style sailor tattoos along with cheeky vintage imagery such as winking sailor girls, and stockings and heels. The range includes cup and saucer sets, plates, bowls, mugs, salt and pepper sets and more.

“Aside from the crockery, I’ve also now got tote bags and t-shirts available with my ‘Hello Sailor!’ logo artwork on them, and I’m currently trying to find stockists.  The range has gone down well with followers of my Facebook and so I’m trying my hardest to get somewhere with it as I feel it has potential…

“I’m not married myself, but I love seeing photos from weddings online, particularly  if they have quirky/unique/creative elements.
I’d love to have the opportunity of being involved with a wedding on an artistic level, be it creating custom illustrations for invitations, wedding portraits for the bride and groom, or even sorting some personalised hand-painted crockery for them as a keepsake.

If you like the look of my work, do please check out my website and get in touch if you feel I could be involved with your special day.”

Below is another illustration from Becky that she recently did – I love it. And also some recent pictures of a wedding that she helped out at which she’s interested in pursuing should there be any brides on a budget in the Derbyshire or Merseyside that area interested in getting images with a bit of a vintage twist.

Do leave Becky some love – I adore her work. You can view Becky’s other stuff on her website, Facebook and Twitter.
