Love Letters – “The Best Present Of My Life”

MMI_2432

Today I get to share with you Katie and Oli’s engagement shoot, who have the cutest proposal story ever by the way, from the super awesome  Dan Hough Photography, one of my favourite Manchester based wedding photographers.

Well, we definitely don’t have a love at first sight story.. I’ve known Oli since i was 16 when I worked as a waitress at a local bar and restaurant and he was training to be a manager. He’s always made me laugh but I’d never looked at him in any other way than a friend until about 7 years later. Oli went to Australia for a few years and when he came back in 2010, we had the same group of friends so we spent a lot of time together hanging out and then, as they say, the rest is history.

All of our friends had already called it between us and not one person was surprised when we got together. I think they all saw the spark before we realised it.

Oli proposed on Christmas Day 2012. He told me he used to play this game when he was younger with his sister at Christmas where they would blind fold each other and have to guess the presents that were being passed to them. So that happened to me, I was handed presents with clues and then had to guess what each one was. The final present was silence and I couldn’t feel anything, so I took my blindfold off and there he was on one knee with this beautiful ring and on our chalk board next to him read ‘fancy spending your life with me’ and that was that! The best Christmas Day of my life! We still have that chalk board with those exact words on. It turns out he never use to play that game with his sister and it was just a way of blindfolding me so I didn’t think he was being weird!

I cant say that tattoos have affected choosing my dress as I only have a tiny circle behind my ear that I will admit I had done a little bit tipsy at a festival. I was having such an amazing day with my friends so I wanted us all to get ‘the circle of trust’. 5 of us did on the day and now I think nine of us in total have it somewhere on our bodies, including Oli.

I guess that would mean we have matching tattoos, but they were done when we were just friends. Tattoos wouldn’t have affected how I chose my dress as they are there for a reason – why wouldn’t you show them off. I do have a bridesmaid who is covered in them and her dress will be showing all.

One of Oli’s friends who is a tattoo artist drew us an engagement picture and a couple of months later, Oli got it tattooed on his forearm. That’s a very special one to me.

How cute are Katie and Oli? I do love their engagement story. Thank you to them both and to Daniel Hough Photography for sharing with Marry Me Ink today. Be sure to leave them some love!

Love Letters – The Movie Premier

MMI_1122

Today I get to share with you Kasi & Elliott’s really rad movie premier styled engagement shoot from the awesome Matt Steeves Photography which I discovered on Instagram recently.

MMI_1134Elliott and I met at a pool party. Neither of us planned on going, but ended up there by the end of the day. We really hit it off, but didn’t talk for two months after. Thanks Facebook!

We went to Graceland for my birthday and stayed at the heartbreak hotel. I am a HUGE Elvis fan. He surprised me with the Graceland suite and I thought that was my gift, because that was more than enough.

MMI_1124“My tattoos weren’t a factor in choosing my dress. Whichever I liked with the style I wanted was the one I got! And I couldn’t be happier!”

Today I get to share with you this amazing outdoor engagement shoot of Morgan and Max from the wonderful Love & Perry Photography

I love everything about this shoot, the feel of the relaxing day, the colours of Autumn, Morgan’s awesome tattoos and so much more! The story of how Morgan and Max met each other is great..

It was graduation weekend at UMass Amherst, where I am currently attending for my master’s degree. That Friday night a few friends and I decided to go out to a bar that we frequent called McMurphy’s. While standing there amidst conversation I noticed two guys looking at me from across the bar. Out of curiosity, I approached them. They introduced themselves as Max and Nick and said they were brothers. We had a few drinks, some interesting conversation; they complemented me on my tattoos, by this time the bar was getting ready to close so we finished our drinks and made our way to the door. Upon leaving the bar Max made a comment to me about how he really liked how strong and confident I was and that he hoped he could see me again.

Love Letters – With True Grit & Amazing Grace

Aisling&Jeremiah_engagement_IMG_0149

Today I get to share with you the most beautiful story of Aisling and Jeremiah’s engagement, alongside the stunning photography of Natalie J Weddings

Aisling&Jeremiah_engagement_IMG_0379

We met in Vancouver, Canada. I had been living there for nearly a year and Jeremiah there for 3 years.

We met in a bar that I worked in Gastown called the The Metropole Pub “The Met”. Jeremiah would come in after work for a drink or he would come down on his days off with a group of mates for $2 Tuesdays. He and his mates drank a lot of $2 beers, they always tipped the best and the politest customers.

One night someone had had too many $2 beers and a fight had broken out (a regular occurrence at The Met), somehow this time Jeremiah and his mates had got dragged into it and onto the street, Jeremiah’s jacket got left behind and through the chaos I managed to find him and give it back. That was it that was “the moment”.

I was intrigued by Jeremiah, he was a big presence, always well dressed with tattoo’s and slick back hair, he was quiet and polite. We talked on Facebook and arranged to go to the movies.. The closer the date got, the more nervous I became.

A couple of nights before our date, I was out with some friends for a birthday and after a few too many drinks and new found courage I called Jeremiah and told him we had to meet right now and he obliged. Being the true gentleman he is , he looked after me gave me water and we talked all night, we were barely apart from that moment on.

After a few months of being together and doing everything together, my Canadian visa was expiring and I had to go back to England. For us to be together, Jeremiah had to return home to Australia to work and to save. This was a very difficult time for us being worlds apart and both leaving behind friends and the city we loved so much, but after a few months I was granted my Australian Visa and Jeremiah had paid for my flights. I shortly after arrived in Australia where Jeremiah has become the Grit to my Grace and we have began a wonderful new life together with our trusty sidekick and puppy dog Mr Bugsy.

After two years of living in Australia, we took a trip back to the U.K to introduce Jeremiah to my family (and little did in know, for Jeremiah to ask my dad for his blessing). We spent two weeks in the UK before doing a mini Euro Trip starting in Spain to see my bothers. From La Manga we drove the coast to Barcelona and then we flew to Nice. On the top of Montee Du Chateau over looking the most beautiful view of nice, Jeremiah told me he loved me as I was devouring the juiciest peach of my life I nodded with a approval. And then out of the blue he got down on one knee.. Through tears and beaming smile, (and a mouth full of peach) I said yes.
