A Video Game Wedding Between Two Rockers – Abby & Reid

AbbyReid16

Today’s tattooed bride and groom is Abby and Reid who had a short and sweet wedding ceremony but then rocked the night away at their awesome gig venue The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY with photography from Justine Johnson Photography. They both met prior to a video game convention online.. Seriously their story is awesome.

We met volunteering at a video game convention called PAX — Reid is from Seattle originally, and I’m from Los Angeles. We started chatting online in the volunteer chat room, and became really good long-distance friends. We had mutual interests in punk music, art, and video games. Reid finished grad school, moved to New York to start a job in physics… and then we decided to date because our mutual attraction was too strong! I was still finishing school in Los Angeles, so through video games, chatting and visits, we managed to do long distance for 2.5 years.

We did this wedding all on our own so basically everything from the venue (a music venue in Brooklyn called The Bell House) to the music (we played all sorts of punk during our cocktail hour) to our Street Fighter cake toppers were 100% us! We also had a fuss-free reception with our favorite Cambodian sandwiches, along with cupcakes. You can hold all of these while dancing.

We made 90% of our decorations, including the bouquets and boutonnières. The most fun was the PVC pipe trellis (cut in the snow!) The trellis was decorated with handmade tassels and then jerryrigged by someone who is very good with knots.

I didn’t have the tattoo when I searched for dresses, but I knew something was going to be on my arm. I definitely wanted something with either no or short sleeves.

A Foggy And Magical Nature Reserve Israel Wedding – Alex & Ariel

Today on Marry Me Ink I get to share with you tattooed bride Alex and husband Ariel’s wedding celebrations. They decided to have their amazing reception at Neot Kedumim Nature Reserve ten days after their official ceremony where the awesome Gamba Photographers caught everything beautifully – including their adorable dogs! Bride Alex also purchased her gorgeous dress from Marry Me Ink’s favourite online fashion store ModCloth.

Ariel and I met through mutual friends, we had been talking on the phone for a while and went on a first date to a bar in 2010, got drunk and woke up the next morning. We have been together ever since.

The clothes we chose to wear represented us as a couple – the wedding dresses were both under $100, and the groom’s suit is all vintage pieces that we collected at the Kensington Market at Toronto. Everything is unique and simple, not too flashy and over the top just clean and simple.

A Nautical Pirate Wedding – Deanna & Chris

MMI (68 of 102)

Tattooed bride Deanna and husband Chris had a nautical theme to their wedding day, which included walking the plank and jumping into the pool at their venue Deer Crossing Inn and photography from Matt Ritscher from New Hope Photography.

When I was 18, I went with a friend to watch him get tattooed and saw Chris.  He was my friend’s tattoo artist.  I was smitten, but didn’t actually meet him until a few years later when I was then piercing at the same shop I first saw him at.  He had gone off to live on a boat in the Bahamas, but decided to return.

We were fast friends, and then roommates, all while dating other people.  It wasn’t until after we moved out to our own places that we started dating, and here we are nearly a decade later both tattoo artists, business partners, friends, and a married couple in love.

I think all of our wedding represented us a couple really. It was where all of my friends and family came together, not only to witness our marriage, but they all worked their tails off too. Our friends did the set up, cooking, sewing, video making, officiating, photography ect. We also had live music at the end of the night that was stompy, piratey and a blast.  I think that teamwork, community and fun are all things we try to aim for, and our wedding was a perfect embodiment of that.

Michael and I met through a 12 step fellowship that we are both in, We had been friends for years but something shifted in our relationship when we decided to take a trip to Universal studios together one year, even though we didn’t get physical during that trip – The energy between us completely changed us and I’m so glad it did.

Our day was Everything I never knew I wanted and more.

The most significant detail that represented us was probably the indie folk rock badassness we had for music – and the contrast between the beautiful mermaid-esque strapless white wedding gown, and my tattoos.. I wondered for the longest time how my tattoos would look in that dress, and for me – It represented us perfectly. The only other detail was one that only myself, Michael and my little brother, Connor (who married us) knew about – and it was the book that was being “read” from for the ceremony by my little brother- What was needed to perform the ceremony was printed on a piece of paper and slipped into the “Book” to look like that’s what was being read – The book was a piece of literature from the 12 step fellowship Michael and I are in.

All of my center pieces were created by myself, my Maid of Honor and my Man of honor. I also worked up some Mason Jar wedding favors which were also the escort cards. The more fun of those two were the centre pieces- They were beautiful (and I enjoyed pretending like I knew what I was doing!).
