A Beach Style, Garden Wedding – Madeline & Jacob

IMG_3737-Edit

I’ve been waiting to share tattooed bride Madeline and husband Jacob’s wedding for a few weeks now – I just love the colours and peaceful feel I get from captures of their day from Homespun Creative. They had their wedding in their parents’ back garden in Long Beach and used seasonal flowers from the garden.

Jacob and I met when I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th. We got to know each other throughout high school, mostly in jazz band. He played trumpet and I played piano and the way the piano was faced during practice, I was constantly seeing him messing around in the back row making inappropriate jokes with his trumpet. We both went our separate ways after high school, he to University of Washington and I to the University of Oregon. One summer we both happened to be single and I asked him to teach me to surf. It turned in a short summer fling, we went our separate ways again but from then on whenever we were both home from school we’d get together and go out on dates. There was also one summer I spent a lot of time “surfing” with Jacob while in another relationship but it all worked out in the end! Jacob would never commit to a relationship until he went with me and two other friends on a trip to Vegas for my 21st birthday. After way too many cocktails I broke down into tears in front of Caesar’s Palace and told him I was in love with him and had been for years and he told me he was too and we’ve been together ever since, five years, after about 3 years of flings.

A Simple, Sweet, Retro Rock’n’Roll Wedding – Chris & Tristan

MMI_3661

What’s better than a Rock ‘n Roll wedding? I think getting married by the King is something special, that’s exactly exactly what Chris and Tristan did when they got married! With a custom dress from Dolly Couture and photography from Jessica Branstetter, I am in love with this retro wedding!

We met online. A fateful friend’s request on MySpace. I was a little hesitant because he was a bit younger than me, but he was cute so I accepted. I messaged him saying I wasn’t on MySpace often, so he asked for my number. A few days later he called me. During the conversation I discovered he was still in high school, meaning he’d fibbed about his age on his profile two years. I wasn’t sure what to think, being twenty-three and living on my own… He was surprisingly charming, assuring me he always had a thing for “older women”. Haha. Like I said, he was cute, so…  That’s how we initially met.

We had Elvis style vows performed. Promising to not have “suspicious minds” and not to be a “hound dog”… To “love each other tender…” etc. I know Chris and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Several people told me they were either laughing or crying or both! It was lovely and light-hearted. Just what I wanted.

An Intimate Edinburgh Wedding – Louise & Ian

MMI_3888

Tattooed bride Louise and her husband Ian were married in an intimate wedding at The Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh with photography from Nadin Dunnigan Photography. Louise wore a gorgeous Phase Eight dress (You can see more Phase Eight wedding dresses here in a previous post) that showed a lot of her tattoos.

Our courtship was almost like a modern-day ‘When Harry Met Sally’; we were introduced by a mutual friend and it took us ages to get together… At first I didn’t like him much (sorry Ian!) as I thought he was such a show-off, but gradually we became friends and it became the most important relationship in both of our lives.

The highlight of our wedding was when I saw Ian for the first time in the ceremony room, looking so handsome in his suit and a little nervous.. I was *busting* to actually be married to him by then…! (Also discovering I could walk just fine for the wedding photos in my 6” Louboutin heels)

A Fun And Relaxed Barn Wedding Of Two Cool Dudes – Morgan & Dan

D&M338

Today I get to share with you the awesome wedding in Matfen, Northumberland at High House Farm Brewery of Morgan and Dan from Katie Byram Photography. Morgan and Dan both met at work where he was a student ans she was a single parent. Their story is just wonderful.

Our eyes met over the top of our computer screens at a busy call centre – a modern day fairy-tale, I Know! Dan had recently been removed from university for an unwilling to curb his ‘burning the candle at both ends’ lifestyle. I was returning to work following the birth of Grace, my first daughter. I was placed on the same team as Dan and we quickly became best mates, giving each other the nickname ‘dude’ like cheesy, American surfers or something! Dan says that he has always loved me, literally from first sight but always thought I was out of his league! I thought Dan was way too ‘cool’ for me, our lifestyles could not have been more different, typical student and single parent. Our first ‘date’ Dan managed to get out of a boring work party because his mate, Rick Danger, ran a bar where Skepta was doing a gig. I really wanted to go so I blamed the baby sitter and ditched the party early to go with Dan.  I met him at his flat where he lived with his friends. I was the only girl there, it was typical student digs – they had no cups or glasses (well clean ones anyway) so he went over the road and borrowed some from Subway. It was the best night!! Supercharged with alcohol, singing, dancing and great banter…we both missed work the next day and have been pretty much inseparable since then. We are now just as happy with a few pints!

There are so many highlights to our day it’s really quite hard to narrow it down. One moment in particular really stands out and was captured perfectly on our photos to treasure forever. It was an outdoor wedding in an open barn and the one thing we couldn’t control was the weather! It started raining bang on 2pm as I stepped out of the camper van. I wasn’t worried at this point though, I was just so excited! All went well, we said our vows, had our kiss and signed the papers but our guests had been outside for a while now and were starting to look cold, it was looking like we were going to have to take it inside.  So the music comes on, we are pronounced man and wife and we start our walk back down the aisle together as Mr and Mrs and as soon as we got to the end of the barn the sun came bursting out, it was blinding. It was such a special moment it felt heavenly as if our happiness was reflected in the sky.
