ASSASSYNATION – Shot By Sassy

SASSY LOGO (2)

Today I get to welcome back the wonderful Sassy – One of the awesome alternative wedding photographers of the whole UK. I had the opportunity to chat to Sassy recently and ask her a few questions about what she loves and her photography.

Hey there, I’m Sassy!! Otherwise known as Assassynation photography.  I LOVE weddings, particularly weddings with a difference.  Ones with some serious personality, one’s where it gets a bit crazy……..basically anything fun.

Q1

Ummm I have quite a few, I have a chest piece, a whole back piece, my ring finger has a traditional Thai symbol on it which I had done with bamboo during my vow renewal, I have a hand tapped Thai yant on my wrist, I have my charm bracelet which documents the interesting places I go and people I meet that have impacted on my life….. This I’ll be adding to forever!!

Q2

People who know who they are, people who are unapologetic about their uniqueness and who refuse to be sidetracked in to doing “what everybody else does”.  I love creative, interesting and alternative people who judge people on their merits not what designer label they wear, what colour their hair is or what the fact that they have tattoos.  Basically if you are unusual, a bit weird, totally bonkers, and eccentric or straying from the norm I am going to love you and you are what inspire me to do this.

Q3

Whatever the hell you want!! Don’t be bullied in to anything, be brave, be yourself!! If you want a corpse bride dress, or a leopard print dress, or you want to show off your tatts then do it.  It’s your day!!

A Snowy Wedding in Moscow – Ekaterina & Roman

MMI_1205

With the weather being as undecided as it is at the minute – I thought I’d share this stunning Russian wedding that took place in Moscow from Igor Gerasimchuk. Seriously – Tattooed bride Ekaterina and her husband Roman look absolutely beautiful in the snow after their Tzaritsinsky registry office ceremony!

We got to know each other near the fountain on a summer day and 5 days after our acquaintance we went on a trip. Our first romantic city became Kiev and it was there where we understood we couldn’t live without each other. After that we started to live together and 3 years later we went to our another holiday. It was a picnic with nights by the shore of the Black sea. At the sunset when the sun was going down the horizon and the stars were shining, Roman knelt down and asked me to marry him. It was so romantic that sure I said “Yes!” – Otherwise he’d have killed me!

Amanda’s Antics – The Tattooed Bride Journal Part Three

It’s time for part three of what Amanda and Jared have been up to recently with their wedding planning. *SPOILER ALERT* This instalment features some very stunning dresses!

Hello again!
I wish I could say time is slowing down, but days seem to just keep slipping away. Today I will be talking about save the dates and wedding dress shopping!

[1] Save The Dates

During the last post I was able to show you all some of our engagement photos. I cannot stress how important it is to get these done ASAP. I knew I wanted to design my save the date including our most recent pictures. We also had never taken any professional photos together (he dodged it for almost 4 years) up until this point. After looking at different wedding time lines they mentioned save the dates on average go out about 6 months in advance- about 8 for destination weddings. You also have to consider the fact you need to design, purchase, gather addresses and finally… send them out stamped!

Our wedding date again for everyone’s reference is 10-18-14. I was able to get these pictures taken within 2 months of being engaged. I didn’t have to look far because my Maid Of Honor is an amazing local photographer. I knew Jared would be most comfortable around her and I am obsessed with her work. If I have learned anything during this process thus far about saving money, always consider families and friends for your vendors. If there are not any photogs, djs, chef ect. that you know, ask your friends who just got married. Chances are they have a really good person in mind or have researched and could give you some insight.

Back to the save the dates: Designing – these are some of my favorite inspirations

When Two Trees’ Roots Join And Become One – Heather & Max

Hannah-dornford-may-erica-stacey-7

Tattooed bride Heather and Max married in June.  A friend took photographs for them on the day of their wedding.  After they returned from Honeymoon some of their wedding suppliers got together with photographer Hannah Dornford-May  and ‘recreated’ their day on location in Heather’s grandparents beautiful garden.  Here’s their story..

Heather and Max met on their first day at University.  They were good friends for seven years before finally falling in love.   However, after taking seven years to fall in love, Max then couldn’t wait to propose.  He started to think about how he was going to propose to Heather, but just jumped in and asker Heather before he had even bought the ring! Heather immediately said YES.

When they started to plan their wedding Heather and Max knew they wanted a very informal relaxed affair and here they tell us about their day.

Our wedding was different..  There were lots of different elements as it was very personal to us and not very traditional. We wanted an outdoorsy wedding with a countryside feel and we wanted  a really relaxed family atmosphere.   It was important that we had lots of little touches which were special to us and which family and friends were involved in.  For example, Max’s mum made lots of buttonholes for the groom and the guests.

Our celebrations started the evening before our wedding when we had a relaxed meal with our guests and then we all had breakfast together the next morning.   After breakfast, we all went to the ceremony on a lovely vintage bus.  We just wanted all our families together; because we both come from a divorced family we wanted everyone in the same room and it to be really intimate.   Our wedding was alternative but really good fun.

We’ve never smiled so much. When we both went into the ceremony everyone said we were both just like Cheshire cats the whole way through. There were so many people there with us to share the experience and it was such a wonderful day.

The tree tattoos were inspired by one of our wedding readings.  The reading was taken from ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ which explains how you know you’re in love if two tree’s roots grow together and become one tree instead of two and that really stuck with us so we both decided to get tree’s done with their roots showing as a symbol  of our marriage.  It’s a way for us to remember it without  being typical tattoos.
