A Spring Science Fair Bridal Shoot by Marry Me Ink [Tattooed Bride Blog]

It’s finally here! Marry Me Ink’s first styled bridal shoot!

The idea of a Spring Science Fair came about when discussing different themes for weddings one day out with a friend.
The mad scientist look!

Being a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory and an absolute sucker for science geekery – What better to combine all three sciences into one amazing shoot?!!

(Yes that’s a heart in a jar)

After much discussion with the amazing Ali Lovegrove Photography, vendors and friends, the team that was pulled together I was more than pleased with!
Leah of
Golden Apple Designs
created the most beautiful stationery for the shoot that I have ever seen. Seriously – I probably only sent her two emails with basic ideas and she created more on paper than what in could in words!

Unfortunately on the morning of the shoot, Allie (who was also modelling for the shoot) fell ill. This is the only reason I ended up being on camera again!
The aim of this bridal shoot, as well as being tonnes of fun, is further promote the beliefs that of which Marry Me Ink was originally built on – You can be YOU on your wedding day, showing off ALL your tattoos!

Chemistry.. It’s what makes a couple work.. Mixed with a bit of biology of the heart. The physics of what makes the earth go round.. Your love for your partner, the attraction of magnet poles (Without getting too soppy!).

We had so much throughout the day. Leah & myself had lots of fun getting the heart into the jar whilst Alice cracked on making Clare & Sally absolutely stunning!

Clare & Sally’s dresses were created by the amazing Dressing Room Boutique, the one I wore is my own Fearne Cotton dress which I’ve just never had chance to wear yet!
All accessories and props (especially the amazing bouquet!) were locally sourced from alternative boutiques and businesses who were more than delighted to let us use their products (See thanks for more information).

Do leave some love for all those involved. It was such a fantastic day, we had so much fun with it. From adding food colouring to the test tubes to standing around eating my homemade peanut butter cups! All girls involved are great & I’m truly grateful for everyone’s help during the months of preparation, weeks of collecting props and on the day of making it fun!

Huge thanks to:

  • Clare of Dolly Cool for bringing a box full of luscious jewellery and looking gorgeous on camera.
  • Sally Monster with the most amazing hair for modelling.
  • Alice of Kitty Wink Vintage for making us all look like neon signs.
  • Leah of Golden Apple Designs for creating the most geek-chic stationery you will ever see and for taking the long journey to hand deliver them on the day.
  • The Dressing Room Boutique for supplying  Clare & Sally’s dresses.
  • L.O.V.E Bouquets for the gorgeous “L.O.V.E ROCKS” bouquet complete with skulls and spiders.
  • Kalandra Jane Designs for the elegant and bespoke  hair pieces.
  • Rose Bridge High School‘s science department for allowing us to use their props.
  • Purpose Life Church for allowing us to use their whole building for the afternoon.
  • And of course, the outstanding Ali Lovegrove Photography. For travelling all the way down with Leah, documenting the day and taking the time to edit the photos. For creating multiple amazing images of the array of props, models and prep of the shoot, behind the scenes and footage of the day.

Tattoo Inspired Invitations by Veronica Dearly [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Today as part of Vendor Love, I bring you the beautiful work of Veronica Dearly.

From the fonts to the polka dots, I love the styling on Veronica’s work.

I am Veronica Dearly and I have a small art and design studio just outside West London. Since creating a stationery suite for my own wedding last year, I’ve been working with couples to create bespoke invitations and paper goods for their weddings, and I’m now launching a range of invitation collections.

“I have always pursued painting & creativity, as an angsty schoolgirl I sold giant finger paintings of Kurt Cobain and then went onto paint portraits of couples and children. Recently I’ve favoured more illustrative work and graphic design and this has coincided nicely with my adventures in wedding stationery.

My style is heavily influenced by old school ink, I just love the bold, graphic lines and recognisable imagery – and whilst I don’t have my own tattoos (yet!) I am immortalised as a pin up on my husbands arm forever, which I totally dig.

“Having searched the market furiously in the build-up to my own wedding I understand that it’s often difficult to find something that you totally love – which is why all my collections can easily be tailored to suit you and your wedding.
I also offer a fully bespoke service so if you want something inspired by your own ink, wild wedding theme or even pin up versions of you and your future intended – then I’m your girl!

“My prices start from £2 per invitation, all with the option of additional information cards, RSVP cards and pretty ribbons if you fancy it, and co-ordinating “on the day” paper goods are also available for each collection. My bespoke design fee for wedding invitations is £50.”

Aren’t they gorgeous designs? I do love the polkadots and the swallows! They’re Beautiful!

Don’t forget to visit Veronica’s page to check more of her designs and prices.

It All Started With A Trade Of Tattoos [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Today on Marry Me Ink, I bring you a gorgeous retro couple who were hitched in Vegas!

Nick and Rachel are both tattoo artists and decided to wed in Vegas for three reasons: It was quick, painless and most of all – FUN! If anyone wanted to come, they could and those who missed out, got to watch it live online from the comfort of their own homes! (What a fantastic idea!)

Nick and I are both tattooists. We both saw each others work online and decided to meet up to swap tattoos. At the time I was apprenticing in Manchester so he drove up to meet me and trade tattoos. We hit it off straight away and went on a real date a week later. It was only long distant for a few months as we got to know each other and when invited to work at Modern Body Art in Birmingham city centre we decided to move into a house there together. He now works in another great shop in Birmingham called ‘Gung Ho’. So the move was a great choice for our careers (and of course our relationship!)

Because we do the same thing, we really get each other. We spend all our time drawing and painting together!

With anybody else I would have to apologise for working all the time.

“The day before Nick proposed, I went to get my knee tattooed by Valerie Vargas at Frith Street in London. He usually comes with me but gave me some excuse that he couldn’t, and I believed him! Little did I know he was going to buy me a ring!
So the next day I was feeling really rough after getting such a painful tattoo. I wasn’t feeling very well and decided to come home early. But he got the guys at work to stall me there as long as possible! Then his friend showed up at the shop with a huge bouquet of flowers, the handbag I had my eye on for months and £20 for a taxi.

So I got the cab home and there was a note stuck to the floor with ‘start here’ from this was a trail of chocolates going around the house with presents of perfume, monkey Sylvanian Families and a Vivienne Westward necklace along the way!
Then when I got to our room there was another note saying ‘now go downstairs’. There he was on one knee with a beautiful Edwardian ring. Of course I said yes!

We were engaged for almost a year. We would of gone a lot sooner if my sister wasn’t pregnant! I wanted to wait until she could come with us (and when a time would be good for her to be away from my new nephew for a few days!)
This was a blessing in disguise, everybody had plenty of time to save up and so we had a great turnout! We had spoken about Vegas before and it just seemed right for us.
We aren’t religious people., so a quick fun wedding was more up our street.

“We both love retro style! I’m into the styling of the 40s-50s and Nicks more 70’s-80s! I think this really comes out in our choice of outfits! But I also think that it worked really well together on the day. We got the best of both worlds by having our cocktail reception at a tiki bar!”

Rachel explained that she tried on a few different styles of dresses before settling on this beautiful gown that compliments her tattoos so well.

I think anything too fussy/frilly wouldn’t work. My tattoos are the decoration!
I was sure Nick was going to see my dress! even though it was in a dress bag we took it on the plane with us and it kept falling off the hanger (And out of the bag!!) Luckily my family where all there to help! Nick even carried it at one point but he assured me he didn’t see it.

After our wedding we went on a road trip with a couple of friends. We traveled to get tattooed by Nicks favourite tattooist. He has a shop in Northern California called Champion ship tattoo, and he’s called Curt Baer. Nick got his throat tattooed and I got some wedding bells! So those are our wedding tattoos (and of course we have the tattoos we traded on the day we met). We defiantly have a few more planned to get together (we have a lot of in jokes!)

And if get getting married wasn’t awesome enough.. Nick also won $5,400 on the a slot machine after the buffet that day! Crazy!

How awesome are Nick & Rachel?!! A HUGE thank you for allowing me to share their amazing wedding with you!

Here’s a bit of advice from Rachel if you’re planning your own wedding:
Do what makes you happy! As long as it’s in budget of course. Don’t feel like you have to please everybody. Its your day after all!
Its easy to get swept up in it all and think you have to do everything everybody is telling you. Just make sure you do what YOU want to make it special.

Do leave them some love , they are one fantastic couple!
