A Vintage Birmingham and Sinatra Filled Wedding – Beverley & JT

JR2A7469

Today’s tattooed bride Beverley contacted Marry Me Ink directly when she got got married to Jason at The Westmead Hotel in Hopwood, Birmingham. I contacted Wendy Marie Photography to see more details from their big day, including vintage hair and make up from Le Keux Vintage Salon and couldn’t wait to share them with you!

JT and I both met through a mutual friend and our interest in motorbiking. However, little did I know I would be marrying into an existing marriage of sorts… That is JT and his best man Breeny are more commonly known as “JT and wifey” – a comical relationship made up of bickering, bacon sandwiches and “Have you rolled the fags yet?”. The standing joke on the big day itself was that I’d stolen JT from Breeny (The photos towards the end of the night show them both looking into each other’s eyes whilst I toasted my whisky on my success!)

We were really able to express ourselves through the music of the ceremony, starting with Frank Sinatra’s “Have you met Miss Jones” (my maiden name) and our exit to AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”, through how we were able to decorate the wedding breakfast. We also shared our first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “Witchcraft”. We had lessons to dance a foxtrot! (I also had witchcraft linking in with my sleeve tattoo representing the Wiccan wheel of the year).

For me, the highlight of our day was the moment of becoming Jason’s missus…. and Jason said it was seeing me coming down the aisle – I will never forget him mouthing “wow” when he saw me.

I met Simon in Tenerife in 2008. We were both on holiday with our friends. Simon caught my eye as we were dressed up as cow girls and Simon had the obligatory check shirt to match. I went over to ask for a picture with him, we got chatting and as they say ‘the rest was history!’. (I did however get his name wrong the first few days of us meeting as after first trying to convince me he was the bass player from Noah and the Whale (don’t worry – I didn’t fall for it!) he then introduced himself by his nickname Cully, to which I in a drunken haze heard Colin!)

Our day was based about being relaxed with a vintage/music twist. Our invites and seating plans were album covers based around The Beatles Hard Days Night LP, we had a love heart canvas made of plectrums for people to sign instead of a guestbook, song sheet music as part of our table decorations and not to forget my secret love heart, bass clef tattoo. Simon plays the bass in a band. We kept it vintage with our beautiful camper and minis and I had a 50’s style dress made.

An Outdoor Whispering Tree Ranch Wedding – Leah & James

MMI_4827

Tattooed bride Leah looked absolutely gorgeous in her lace dress and pearls when she married James at vintage wedding venue the Whispering Tree Ranch. Kylee Elyse Photography captured their day beautifully and it makes me wish I was there at their wedding to see all the wonder.

James and my story didn’t really start the day we met. We met through mutual friends and shared a family experience that we both went through during different years. With how life works out, we went different ways for 3 years. Thanks to social media, I realized he was not with his last girlfriend and thought it would be okay to message him a cute heart to get his attention. I was living in my home state NJ at the time and was planning on moving back to AZ. I was attempting to build some relationships up prior to my move. I got his number because I thought he was cute and wanted to catch up once I got back into AZ. We spoke for a few months and once I got into AZ, I asked him to help me move. He showed up later that afternoon and we both knew, we were all we wanted.

James made me forget I was a mom and an adult. He made me feel extremely nervous but in a good way and the butterflies in my stomach went wild. He picked me up with a hug, spun me around and we had our first kiss! The world just stopped. I remember him taking me in his Tundra down the 101 to In and Out with my daughter asleep and so exhausted from the move. In NJ we don’t have In and Out so it was a treat! I was very content. I thought to myself, “I wouldn’t want it any other way.” We have gone through a lot since that day. Ups and downs. Being together and separate, but now we share a step daughter, expecting another girl in August, and much more. We are married and very in love with who we are becoming. Marriage is not easy but I believe it is something we both are willing to put effort into and make work. Truly, he is my other half and I love him more than yesterday!

An Antique And 1920s Party, Full Of High Flying Fun – Ashley & Alyssa

MMI_4235

Today’s wedding features two gorgeous tattooed brides Ashley and Alyssa. The day involved a helicopter entrance at the American Helicopter Museum, a bride in a tux and an amazing 1920s vibe, captured by the awesome BG Productions – an epic husband and wife team based in Philadelphia. Plus – What’s more awesome than pizza and donuts at a wedding?!

We went to different schools in the same neighborhood. We both noticed each other around town, but it wasn’t that hard to spot each other since neither of us shied away from bizarre and out of the ordinary styles. Eventually we were introduced by mutual friends. We dated for a few months but broke up after a misunderstanding and didn’t talk for about a year. Finally Ashley sent me a email saying she wanted to see me, she claims she couldn’t stay away any longer. Our first time seeing each other we went to Philadelphia for the 4th of July fireworks and she held me while we watched. We have been inseparable and completely in love since then. We see the fireworks every 4th of July since that first time Almost 9 years ago. Last year she proposed to me under the fireworks. It was really surreal.

Alyssa – I mean I came in on a helicopter and that probably should have been the highlight… But as soon as I got to the end of the isle and looked up to see my gorgeous wife waiting for me, the helicopter was quickly forgotten. I knew she said she was wearing a tux. But I didn’t have any idea what it was going to look like. Honestly I thought it was going to be frumpy. But it wasn’t she looked like such a rockstar. The rest of the day went really fast. But when I think back thats all I remember is her standing waiting for me.

Ashley – So this is kind of cliche but the truth is the walk down the isle is the first thing I think of every time the wedding comes into my head. I am never super impressed by wedding dresses, to me they are overpriced white dresses, but deep down, I knew that Alyssa was going to pull something spectacular out. We were never going for the traditional aspect in our wedding but one tradition I wanted to keep in tact was to not see my wife until she walked to me down the isle.  I wouldn’t change that image for anything in the world now. I have truly never seen her look so beautiful and I have never seen a wedding dress I have loved more. Her jewelry made her sparkle like a diamond and her eyes were so calm and almost crimson in color (I am not really sure how she pulled that off). I have never been so overwhelmed by her beauty. There may have been a tear or two..

“Everything about our wedding was unique to us. We didn’t put anything in because it was supposed to be there, we put it there because we love it.”
