A Vintage and Fun Masked Wedding – Cassidi & Rob

2013-05-28_0022Good morning! I hope we are all enjoying the lovely sunshine?

Today I get to introduce you to Cassidi who met Rob when she was working in a piercing studio. “I thought he was kind of a dork because he had a silly moustache. Soon he started to come around the (piercing) shop more and more… And finally his beard grew it and I fell in love.  Haha. We became good friends over the next few months. We would hang out all the time and have the best time together. Then one evening Rob kissed me in front of a juke box at this bar we would go to.  From that moment we were even more inseparable.

Our wedding day was insane! As we were all getting ready our newest adopted dog, Rue, ran away! So in the middle of me getting my hair done I had to leave and run around Philadelphia looking for her. Luckily with the help of all of our friends and strangers we found her and still had the wedding start on time!

“I would say that the highlight of our wedding was when we finally got to relax and have a great time on the dance floor.”

Rob and I had a lot of little details that really showed who we were as individuals and as a couple.  We really wanted to keep a vintage feel to the wedding but at a touch of rock n roll. All of the music we played during our ceremony was very non-traditional, I walked the isle to the Ramones “Baby, I love you” and we left the ceremony to Edward Sharp’s “Home”.  We also really wanted to have fun wedding pictures, since we are both really dorky in front of the camera, we got animal mask for us and the bridal party.  To add the animal theme, our cake topper was a bride and groom couple with goat heads.  Continue reading

AEROBABE – A 1920s Theme Shoot

A Mix Of Silent Film Glamour And An Aero-Nautical Theme

2013-06-14_0012

I know! I’m finally sharing this fabulous collaboration that took place last year with Jaye of Tux & Tales Photography!

2013-06-14_0016

What we both wanted from this shoot was to create something dark and glamorous like you would see in 1920s films. With the fabulous vintage eras that have started to surround us on screen lately (Boardwalk Empire, Gangster Squad and The Great Gastby just to name a few), I’ve been dying to be able to swim glamorously around in beautiful silk gowns whilst listening to jazz.

Teaming up with Tux & Tales Photography, Charisma Bridal Hairdressing, Jo Bilham, I Am Nat, All Wrapped Up Events, some of my favourite Manchester venues and many more, helped us create the dark and glamorous 20s look we were hoping for.

If you’re looking to go with the glamorous 1920s for your own wedding, there are certain details which are sure to have you looking like you stepped out of the Ritz! Plunging necklines, and timeless hairpieces are essential for this era.

If it is dark glamour you’re after, then heavy eye make-up will take you there. The gorgeous make-up for this shoot was created by make-up artist Jo Bilham. Remember that red is your friend. There’s nothing I love more than red lips on a bride, it’s such a simple trick that makes you automatically step back in time.

“Tattoos to us are stories and experiences, meaningful imagery. We love owls, its something we have found ourselves collecting over time so made sense to get an owl with each others name in a scroll.” Continue reading

Carrying on with festival week on Marry Me Ink, I get to introduce you to Laura & David who, after a gorgeous church ceremony, celebrated in style and created their own festival – BRIDESTOCK where Laura of Babb Photo photographed the whole day.

“David and I met in a sticky indie club in Southampton called Lennons, in November 2010 and got engaged after 3 months! Both of us have been in long-term relationships before without a sniff of an engagement, but we sort of crashed into each other with an intensity that you can’t explain unless you’ve felt it yourself.”

“Our wedding was not the conventional wedding but everyone who was there mentioned how personal to us the day was.”

“We called in favours from everyone; we made as much as we could and some things weren’t perfect, but were home made and quirky.” Continue reading
