Babe With The Power – A Winter Witchy Bridal Shoot

As Christmas is drawing nearer and we start to wind down with our families (or not so much if you’re working over the Christmas period – I know I am with my career in the NHS) We will be staying quiet here on Marry Me Ink.

But just before I sign off until 2018, to celebrate this magical season, thrifty and eco friendly bridal wear brand Lucky Sixpence Bridal got together a coven of excellent wedding businesses for their Winter bridal shoot ‘Babe With The Power’ shot by wedding and fashion photographer Phil at Grey Fox Photography.

Too often the wedding industry pushes one ideal of bridal beauty and wedding style and all the wedding vendors involved in this shoot had had enough! As an alternative to the often OTT Great Gatbsy, furs and glitter themed shoots for winter brides, Anna from Lucky Sixpence Bridal and Michaela from Clear Hearts Planning took inspiration from the millennial obsession with witchyness with bath salts and sage sticks from She’s Lost Control and candles from Mama Moon, not to mention the backdrop of the stunning and gothic Salmestone Grange. The outfit, boots by House of Elliot, hairpieces and veil from Mcfayden Millinery, hair by Hayley at Meraki and make up by Sasha Prebble enhanced our winter bride, Fern’s natural beauty and magnetism – making her the Babe With The Power. Incredible skin products from cult US brand Witch Baby Soap such as ‘Graveyard Body Oil’ were used to make Fern glow ethereally and bring her look together as a sparkling white witch.

Intermingled with the theme of spirituality the shoot celebrates a number of wedding trends predicted for 2018 (maybe they used their crystal ball, no joke – there was a crystal ball on set thanks to the styling by Clear Hearts Planning) such as the amazing Practical Magic inspired cape from Born To Thread (90s goths all the way!), black accents and crystals.

Furthering the alternative take on weddings theme, the wedding breakfast and wedding cake were in the form of pagan styled ‘festival bread’ by Modern Provider displayed in woven baskets from La Basketry, fairytale-perfect chocolate apples and pure white candy floss from vegan treat providers Naughty Floss.

Merry Kitschmas! Tasty Sweet Christmas Wedding Inspiration

It’s December!! And in three weeks time will be one of my favourite times of the year – Christmas!

Today on Marry Me Ink I get to share with you this amazing styled shoot from Chloe Lee Photography and Michaela at Clear Hearts – THE Rock and Roll events planner for the UK.. Imagine all your favourite things about Christmas all in one place – That’s what this shoot is about. I love it when my house looks like Christmas threw up in it and this is why I love this shoot – full of all the vintage and kitsch wonders you can find!

The idea was born of my love of “more is more,” Bjork and artists like Paul Yore, this mixed with Chloe Lee’s love of all things kitsch, Disney and O.T.T. Meant the cuteness flowed. She is the perfect pick for photographer as she knows how to make everything look adorable.

I (Michaela, Clear Hearts) got all of us involved in bringing the kitsch, even though we all had different jobs on this shoot the team bought some of their fave Christmas Kitsch items for me to add into the styling. It made for such a great selection and made the van so full of fun. Kayleigh K our MUA bought her personal style of flawless bright skin and she added some beautiful sparkle to fit our theme.

The cake with biscuits hanging from it was the genius idea of Malarkey cakes who also made the sparkly doughnuts hanging on the DIY mini doughnut wall made by Clear Hearts. They created the adorable biscuit pops which eliminated any sticky finger problems as the bride and groom tucked in enthusiastically.

Looking at the models  (makeup artist Yazz and tattoo artist Chris) you can see why Paper Hearts paintings was so keen to illustrate their likeness, she did a beautiful job and it turned out the couple were already big fans of her work! What a lovely Christmas gift that they got to keep after the fun day of shooting.

Get Your Wedding Music Search Underway With Bands For Hire

Meet Bands For Hire, a nationwide music agency offering some of the biggest and best wedding bands and musicians across the country.

Music is an essential addition to any wedding, and whilst an experienced wedding DJ is certain to get the party started, nothing quite compares to the thrill of watching a group of live musicians rockin’ out on stage.

Whether it’s a live band for your evening celebration, or perhaps something more subtle earlier on in the day, there are literally hundreds of options to consider.

Daytime Wedding Music

If you’re opting for a traditional English wedding with all the trimmings, then a string ensemble to start the proceedings should certainly be on the cards. Looking through the Bands For Hire site, you’ll come across a range of string duos, trios and quartets, all offering various options to cater for your budget. With what seems to be a never-ending repertoire of music from every era imaginable, you won’t find yourself stumped when it comes to picking those all important ceremony songs.

If a string quartet isn’t quite your thing, then a talented solo harpist or guitarist is equally qualified to get those hairs standing on end. From classical to contemporary, the choice is yours!

Jazz and Swing Band Hire

If you’re thinking about live music for your drinks reception but are struggling for ideas, jazz and swing is a great choice, both musically and visually.

With the roaring twenties at its roots, jazz is a genre of music that simply screams ‘cool’, and when it comes to live wedding music, it’s more popular than ever – especially for those brides and grooms aiming for a vintage themed, Gatsby style extravaganza!

Whether you’re new to jazz or a veteran of The Great American Songbook, you’ll know just how vast the options are when it comes to hiring a band. From New Orleans trad jazz to Parisian gypsy swing; instrumental dinner jazz to a 1940s style big band, ala Frank Sinatra.

The tone of your wedding will most likely dictate the style of band you opt for. For background music, a solo jazz pianist will certainly do the trick, but for something more attention grabbing, a full band with lead vocals and brass are the perfect combination to get those toes tapping.

Live Evening Bands

The formalities are over and it’s now time to get the evening party underway. If it’s a full-on dance off you’re after, a live wedding band could be right up your street.

On the Bands For Hire website you’ll find an extensive roster of wedding bands that cover a broad range of genres. With such a diverse mixture of age groups, this often proves to be the most popular choice for weddings, ensuring there’s something for the grandparents as well as the younger generation. So whether it’s pop, rock, soul or indie that takes your fancy, an all round function band will have the goods to get the party moving!

I Paint Flowers – Sand Dune Bridal Inspiration

Today on Marry Me Ink, we’re escaping this blustery weather and diving into the sand dunes with this floral inspiration including a gorgeous dress from Oh My Honey and photography from Marie Marry Me and Mira Al Pajarito.

The idea of this shoot was born a few months ago. In May we were working in London, and we met Oh My Honey, a vintage bridal brand based there. All the designs are absolutely feminine, with this special vintage touch… It was love at first sight! We had to work with Louise! This summer we contacted Felip Ariza to ask him to do an illustration (love his art!), we started planning this shooting. He sent us an illustration of two Mexican skulls (many thanks again Felip, they are lovely!). We took this picture as a departure to plan something. Our very first idea was a Mexican wedding inspiration shoot, but we realized that maybe it would be better to play only with the couple, in a private lovers shoot. We were also working in a fall inspiration shooting, based in a Charles Baudelaire’s poem: Autumn Song. Martin and I preferred to simplify things to keep working with both ideas.

We wrote Louise to let her know about the idea, and she was so excited too! She helped us to create the looks, in collaboration with L-O-M Fashion and Oh My Honey, a fashion brand with beautiful colourful designs, and some weeks after we received a parcel with a collection of gowns, silk scarfs, skirts, petticoats… When I opened the box, it felt like Christmas morning!

With Gaëlle, from Carnet de Noces, we planned a simple couple shooting in the dune of Pilat, the highest dune of Europe. Can you imagine the views? Just awesome… We told the story to Julie, a jewellery designer. She easily got the concept and sent us some look-books with designs from l’Atelier des Dames. We love her idea about to mix different beaded bracelets, to create a wristband!

Marie was wearing a red flower crown that Esther of Prairie Sauvage made for the shoot. She made also a boutonnière in the same palette for Romain. They were both simply lovely! Julia Marty, the artist behind the brushes, highlighted her cheeks and painted her lips in red. She tied Marie’s hair in a low bun, to crown her head with red flowers. She was gorgeous… We wanted red floral accessories, something less formal than a bouquet. And Esther helped us to choose the perfect match for the couple.
