Edgy & Modern Woodland Winter Photoshoot at The Pumping House

Today on Marry Me Ink, this is the first post of 2021 as I’ve been busy working within the NHS throughout the Pandemic, I get to share with you this gorgeous styled shoot from Chris, Birmingham Wedding Photographer – Artisan X Wedding Photography and Amulet Wedding & Events that took place last year at The Pumping House, Ollerton.

Set in the distinctive Pumping House, a local landmark in the heart of Sherwood Forest, this edgy and modern winter photoshoot perfectly blends the striking industrial spaces with the soft and romantic forest surroundings. The venue spaces provided an ideal backdrop to juxtapose the dramatic and moody style of the model. We wanted to create
contrasting scenes to showcase each suppliers work whilst highlighting a variety of unconventional & alternative looks.

Dove and Lace specialise in design of luxury and unique wedding and event stationery –
“The Pumping House has an edgy and industrial vibe which I wanted to capture and portray through the stationery and also to tie in with the alternative, moody and romantic theme of our shoot. From the smaller and finer details on the table, to the main invitation flat lay, the focus was to be edgy, but elegant, distinctive but commercial, still appealing to a wide audience of couples.

For the shoot, I provided the mauve pink vellum menus, hand calligraphy place names with hand dyed silk ribbons. Plus, for the flat lay, an invitation, RSVP, extra details card and vellum wrap, finished with a luxury pink velvet ribbon. Each element has the black and blush theme running throughout to highlight the moody but romantic vibes.”

Wedding Dress Alterations – What Can I Change About My Wedding Dress?

When it comes to wedding dress alterations, sometimes people forget that you can change more than just the fit. It is so important on your wedding day that you truly love your dress and feel it reflects your personality perfectly! You can’t always find that perfect dress in the store, which is why it’s important to know just how much of a difference wedding dress alterations can make. From adding details to changing the style, there is so much a professional seamstress will be able to do for you. We’ve teamed up with Alterations Boutique, experts in dress alterations, to let you know just a few of the things you can change about your dress.

Adjusting Your Wedding Dress

The Fit

The fit of the dress is one of the most common and important wedding dress alterations. Having a dress that fits you properly is essential on your big day. You want to make sure that the dress fits as intended all over. When a wedding dress doesn’t fit properly it can change the appearance of the whole dress, so you want to make sure it is sculpted perfectly for your body. Remember, you’ll be in this dress all day, so if it’s too small or too large you’ll be really uncomfortable.

The Length

The length is an easy changeable feature of your wedding dress. Whether you just want to make the dress the right length, or want to turn it into a shorter version, this can be done for you. Shortening a dress is always an easier job than lengthening, though lengthening a dress is possible. This is only to a certain extent and we would always recommend getting a dress that is too long rather than too short.

Glittery, Allternative & Boho Bridal Inspiration – Jade Maguire Photography

Today on Marry Me Ink I get to share with you some bridal inspiration full of glitter and boho goodness from Jade Maguire Photography that took place at Allerton Towers in Liverpool. Jade’s planning of the shoot started by planning a low-key shoot that was aimed at the alternative bride, incorporating dark florals and beautiful woodland scenery.

The purpose of this styled shoot was to show how brides who want to wear something different, and be true to who they are, yet have a real low budget could style themselves for a small amount of money and still look AMAZING!

So I set myself up an epic Pinterest board and began searching for inspiration taken from my ideas and began creating this board. My Pinterest board started to grow and it was very clear that if you had tattoos you should be showing them off and flaunting them on your wedding day not covering them up like we quite often see. Tattoos are so personal and unique to you they should be worn with pride and should be appreciated with as much beauty as the person who owns this wonderful ink.

The outfits we chose were aimed to appeal to the boho and the alternative brides, and the venue was selected because it was dark and mysterious, we found that the long leading corridor was so captivating – it was almost mesmerising. After all, have you seen how stunning Allerton Towers really is!? There’s something so comforting about a run down building, personally I am constantly drawn to older buildings but for this building, it was the idea of bringing a sense of life back into the place, these places always change from one week to the next as more decay sets in, and they should be captured and still be used to make amazing memories.. I truly wish you could actually get married here!

The Tattooed Wedding Collective At Scarborough Tattoo Show

So after a month of quiet here at Marry Me Ink (Seriously, it’s been chaotic here), many things have happened including welcoming a rescue Dachshund into our home. Over the second May bank holiday weekend, myself and Legend Bridal took The Tattooed Wedding Collective on tour – this time to the Scarborough Tattoo Show.

We had a wonderful weekend in Scarborough along with Andy of Peacock Obscura Photography and Stuart and Jason of Kokino Hair.

Whilst there at the weekend, Rachel, Sam and Stuart all got tattooed by the beautiful Maddison Magick Tattoo.

Later on on the Saturday night, Maddison tried on one of the new Legend Bridal designs – and boy did she look hot in it!
