Inked Palette – The UK Tattoo Artist Exhibition

Inked Palette 2

UK tattoo blog Inkluded has collaborated with Deasil Art Gallery to present an exhibition featuring artwork by a selection of UK and Midlands tattoo artists. Inked Palette opened on 3rd October to a busy launch event and now remains open to the general public until 20th October 2015.

At Inkluded, we’re passionate about showcasing and sharing the craft of tattoo art and making information about this thriving industry available to the general public. There can often be media misrepresentation about what tattooing is – this exhibition aims to portray the industry in a truthful and respectful light; where tattoos are art, and tattooists are artists. This country’s creative tattoo scene is fast-growing and flourishing with talented artists, remarkable artwork and innovative styles – we thought it was time we unveiled the creativity and originality of the UK’s tattoo mastery through this multimedia exhibition.

The 16 tattoo artists involved have created custom artwork on a variety of materials – rather than their usual approach on skin, they’ve embraced the opportunity to experiment with paper, ceramic, slate, synthetic limbs and more. Inked Palette also features tattoo photography as well as tattoo artist sketches and drawings to offer an insight into the day-to-day life of a tattoo artist working in the UK today.  Continue reading

A Sunny, Autumnal Black Bridal Dress Shoot – Rivington

MMI_5196

About a week ago, I  got the chance to meet up with some awesome ladies and play dress-up at the beautiful and scenic Rivington which is part of the West Pennine Moors (and only a short drive away for us all!).

Earlier this year, Charlotte, Rachel and Tracy of Legend Bridal Designs Ltd altered a dress that was just taking up space in my wardrobe and created the beautiful cream and black Toile de Jouy dress for me to wear for the UK Blog Awards 2015. It fitted me perfectly and the quality of the dress is magnificent.

I wanted to get some pictures of it for them both at Legend Bridal Designs Ltd to share and what better way to do it then spend an afternoon in the great outdoors with Donna of ClickClick Bang Photography and Amy of Erin Olivia’s!

Vintage And Couture Bridalwear By Glory Days

MMI_4985

Marry Me Ink loves all tattooed brides, especially when paired with timeless vintage dresses like these from Glory Days Vintage and Couture Bridalwear. Using a breathtaking medieval church as the backdrop, photographer Steven Eric Parker caught the dresses in a beautiful light.  Hayley of Glory Days shared the images with me and I just had to share!

Steven and I have worked together many times before, and when he mentioned he could get access to shoot in a beautiful Medieval church in North Yorkshire we knew we absolutely had to take the opportunity.

I asked Rachel from Ducks & Daffodils to make us some flower crowns which were open at the back so we could use them as collars too, and she also made us some fresh flower cuffs.  I love how they turned out, the sweet pea collar was beautiful!

Ducks and Daffodils are a local florist who specialise in organic seasonal local flowers, grown and arranged by themselves in York, and when they came on board for the shoot and I had managed to book the beautiful Katie to model we decided to let the gorgeous blooms and Katie’s stunning array of tattoos speak for themselves by keeping everything else as simple as possible.

Alice In Steampunk Land

JL4A3263-2

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you this punk-pretty Alice styled shoot from Joanne Withers Photography and EK Bridal.

JL4A3254-2

We had the use of two venues in Leicester. Belgrave Hall which was built in the early 18th century and the grounds give a secret garden feel to the shoot. Plus Abbey Pumping station, opened in 1891 and this Victorian pumping station is now a museum, but the great news is that this venue has just been given their wedding license. We are the first companies to gain permission to shoot at this venue and as you can image we were very excited to be given the go ahead, as we love to see all the unusual and alternative venues that weddings are now taking place in and this one really does have the wow factor for the alternative, Marry Me Ink bride.

Eloise of EK Bridal specialises in bespoke bridal wear

“All of my dresses are designed, pattern cut and made by myself in my home studio. The dresses I made for this shoot were produced solely for the style of the venues and the theme we were working towards. I love anything that is quirky and slightly unusual, so to design for a steampunk Alice theme was just my thing. The shoot was amazing to be a part of and everyone involved were so enthusiastic and absolutely love what they do you can really see this I feel in the
images produced.”
