A French Revolution! Haywood Jones Love Shoot Winners: Lottie & Stan [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Remember back in January when I held this competition on the Marry Me Ink blog with Bethan of Haywood Jones Photography as a starter for 2012? Well, if not, I held a competition for a couple to win a wonderful love shoot with the amazing Bethan.

HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF LOTTI AND STAN WHO LOOK AMAZING!

Lotti and Stan won with the most votes on their mood board entry which looked a bit like this:

Amazing right?! They won with 336 votes! You all sure loved them!

My name is Lotti and I am marrying Stan in August of this year after being together for 6 years. We currently live in Manchester although we’re both originally from Essex.
I’m really into my tattoos- I have work by Nick Horn at Good Times tattoo, Rachel McCarthy of Modern Body Art, Diego and Sol Azaldegui of MVL tattoo studio, Leeds to name a few. Stan’s not one for tattoos himself but he’s always appreciated my passion.

Our wedding theme is French revolution/Marie Antoinette with a powder blue and white colour scheme (like Wedgewood china). For the wedding we thought it would be more appropriate to keep everything more toned down and elegant- it would be wonderful however to do a with the same theme however where we could be more theatrical, incorporate brighter colours and more modern elements and have fun with it- I’m thinking cupcakes being thrown around, balloons and candyfloss hair!!

I also really like cutesy Japanese sweet/gothic Lolita style- some of which has filtered through to Hong Kong where my other half’s family originates from and where we visited last year. I love Hong Kong- it’s really inspiring- so it would be great to incorporate this aspect to things aswell. It would be great to have some pictures of us having fun and letting off some steam before the wedding day. We have our fingers crossed!

Aren’t they the cutest couple? I love how they both went all out and both looked amazing! Getting tweets before and after the shoot was exciting too!
So I saw some photo’s for the @MarryMeInk blog taken by @HaywoodJones, they were pretty awesome

I for one cannot WAIT to see their wedding post August, I’ll be sure to keep you updated! Do leave the beautiful couple some love and HUGE thanks to lovely Bethan of Haywood Jones Photography for holding the competition – she is amazing!

An Urban, Yet Cute Engagement Shoot [Tattooed Bride Blog]

Good morning! I hope you are enjoying the week so far? It’s all busy here with gorgeous things coming in and new exciting weekly features happening! (To be announced next week!)

Today, I bring you Phil & Kim, photographed by the wonderful Craig Dearsley(Who is married to the lovely Veronica Dearly who I’ve previously featured here)

“We met doing something we both love, festivals! After attending years of the same festivals we found were both avid regulars on the Reading Festival forum and got involved in working the festival. We first met at a Halloween party hosted by one of the organisers. That’s where it all started, following that we had the difficult task of a long distance relationship, with him being from Kent and me from Reading.

” We spent every weekend together and all week on the phone, eventually he got a job in Reading and we haven’t looked back since!  We decided to have a mega trip in America a couple of years ago, we spent nearly 4 weeks driving around Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite National Park, San Francisco and all the way down the coast to Los Angeles and San Diego. That trip really influenced our falling in love with Las Vegas, once Phil proposed we knew that Vegas was the place for us to exchange our vows, It completely suits our personalities and requirements for a wedding!

“We regularly have ‘date nights’ and depending on pennies it can just be a cosy night in. Phil took this opportunity to cook for me (something he never does!) and we sat and watched a movie – Life As We Know It. Afterwards I suggested we go upstairs for some loving but he suggested we tidied up first (what has got into this guy?!)
He gave me the DVD box and as I pressed eject the disk came out with the words “Will you marry me?” written on the disk. I froze on the spot as our date night had fallen on April Fools Day, I was in shock and confusion on whether it was a prank, but when I finally turned to look at him he was sat there grinning holding out a ring.

“I only have three tattoos and to be honest they are pretty well covered. My main being on my lower back so would be covered up by my dress. The other two are on my feet/ankle, and I would happily show them off. I have been contemplating getting a shoulder piece before the wedding next year but it will depend on our savings!

“We don’t have any wedding/couples tattoos however we are planning on getting inked when we are in Vegas. It’s less about each others names or the date of the wedding but more about our experience of getting married and Vegas as a destination.”

How amazing is Phil and Kim’s story! So amazing and such an awesome engagement shoot! Don’t forget to leave them some love and a huge thanks to Craig Dearsley and Phil and Kim for sharing their photos and stories with us!

An Inked & Animal Print Engagement

Isn’t it amazing how you get talking to people? I met Christine over the love of tattoos over on the smartphone app Instagram. After several photo uploads, I came to see that she was recently engaged to her man Rob. (Aren’t they the cutest?!)

Christine & Rob met on Tattoo Passions,  a dating and networking site specifically for those with a passion for ink.

Rob asked Christine to marry him in the simplest of ways – “Nothing fancy. He’s not that kinda guy”. (I think the ring says otherwise – that is one gorgeous ring!)

Christine tells me that she’s already ordered her wedding dress, ready to show off both arms and the tattoo on her back. It arrives in June.. I’m excited for her!

“We do not have tattoos for each other yet. We are working on it.”

Aren’t they cute?! Do leave some love for Christine & Rob – such a wonderful couple. And huge thanks to them both and their photographer Danielle Daigle for sharing their photos.

A 1940s Tiara And An Arm Of Tattoos – Dave & Tracy [Tattooed Bride UK Wedding Blog]

THIS is the wedding that got me connected to amazing wedding photographer Andrea Ellison back in October, to which birthed the fantastic Marry Me Ink promotional shoot with three other fantastical ladies in Manchester.. Remember it??

Anyway! Back to the wedding! I love the feel of these pictures – so fresh, crisp and natural. I love how relaxed the whole day looked for Dave & Tracy (Whose sleeve is awesome!).

I’m going to hand straight over to Tracy and let her share a bit about her tattoos with you!

Ooow how exciting! I love this ’cause I rarely get the opportunity to talk tattoos, so forgive me if I ramble!

Well I’ve always loved all styles of tattoos, I just love the idea that your body can become a canvas for amazing art. When you think about it its crazy! Any piece of art from oil paintings to photography can be put under your skin with superb detail to the original and become a part of who you are till the day you die. All forms of art create an emotional response in us but to me the art of tattooing is just that little bit more special, you commit to that piece of art for life.

“I love the Japanese style tattoo’s so I knew that’s what I wanted and I really liked the idea that the dragon and tiger represent yin and yang, so these are prominent in my sleeve. The yin and yang theory is something I try to live by, we all need balance, I just think it runs through the fabric of life.

So really my tattoo represents life in all its parts good and bad.

“I did think about my wedding day when I got my sleeve, but it wasn’t something that worried me, it was just a question I asked myself to make sure I wanted my tattoo, along with the question ‘Will i still like it when i’m 70 and my bingo wings are hailing buses for me?’ the answer was always the same, ‘yeah, because this is who I am.‘ It may not be the classic bride look but what is that anyway?

“People are individuals, you’ve got to look like you on your wedding day.”

I’ve always wanted a traditional wedding, basically what my mum and dad had. Beautiful church, confetti, lots of family and celebrations. But I added a slight vintage look with our vintage rose flowers and my 1940’s inspired side tiara. It was important to us to keep the wedding laid back, comfortable and fun. Because basically that’s us, so the groom and ushers wore nice but comfortable suits and my bridesmaids wore flattering dresses I made sure they were comfortable in.

“I probably subconsciously got my inspiration for my wedding dress off my mum. As a child I loved looking at their wedding album, my mum wore an a-line lace dress with a veil – She looked stunning! It also just wasn’t my style for a big princess dress, I wanted to be able to dance the night away! When I saw my Benjamin Roberts dress in Cheshire brides in Frodsham, I just new it was the one. The most beautiful lace under soft tulle, I had straps added with pearls and crystals on because I felt more comfortable that way. Topped off with my side tiara from Bellissima Weddings and my veil from Ebay!

“I love the fact that my tattoo’s are shown in all our wedding photo’s and so does my family, as long as you get the right tattoo for you, you’ll be happy to be a tattooed bride!”

Doesn’t Tracy look amazing! The dress is beautiful and that tiara is just gorgeous!

Do leave Dave & Tracy some love in the comments below and huge thanks to Andrea for letting me blog this wedding!
