_BE_9841_©Ofir_Abe

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to introduce you to Tel Aviv based hair and make-up artist wonder Dafna Bar-el. As well as being a fab hair and make-up artist, she’s recently started to create her own line of wedding dresses. It all starting over the Tel Aviv fashion week a few months ago and I get to share her fab story with you!

I’m Dafna Bar-el and I’m a makeup and hair stylist from Tel Aviv in Israel, working mostly with brides. I specialise in vintage and alternative looks, and recently started designing bridal wear.

The room in the photos was actually designed as part of Tel Aviv’s design week. 12 interior designers were asked to design one bedroom inside an old train station compound in south Tel Aviv. This room was designed by Interior designer Gila Korach (which happens to be my boyfriend’s mom).

With gothic ambiance, a dark forest wallpaper, a broken mirrored wall, messy velvet bed covers and scattered bridal accessories, the room gave the viewers an intriguing and uneasy feeling of a wedding night gone wrong.

Immediately I knew I had to do a shoot there before it was taken apart a few days later. The styling was already figured out in my head since i previously fantasized about doing a bridal shoot with a Goth feel to it, with my newly designed dresses.

A 1980s Blitz Kids Bridal Shoot – Way Out Wedding

Alternative wedding photography by Paola De Paola

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you this awesome bridal shoot, from Erin the brain behind Way Out Wedding and Paola de Paola Photography, full of shoulder pads and big hair.

Growing up in the 1980s, my head was turned at an early age by Adam and The Ants, Duran Duran, Visage, and all the outlandish fashion of the club scene. It’s such a visually exciting look, and completely original and representative of each person. No carbon copies back then; everything was borne of pure imagination. I just had to do a shoot that incorporated this into a bridal setting, no doubt about it. And I knew exactly who to ask to be on the team!! Fellow fans of this scene, who know it, love it, and brought serious expertise to the day. And there’s a huge thanks to Myriam from La dame au beret, who was this superstar stylist on the day, taking the reins for creating the looks superbly. She was in her element, and did such amazing things with the dresses, jewellery, and overall looks for the models.

All these suppliers took the look from my mind and made it into something so wonderful and beyond my dreams!

The dresses belong to my new preloved bridal range, No Debutante. Myriam and Lauren sourced most of the outfits, and these ladies know their early 1980s stuff! We added these finds to some dresses I already had in my stock, and together these perfectly represented the New Romantic scene crossed with edgy bridal. We teamed them up with glittering jewellery from Wolf & Moon.

Social Media Etiquette & Weddings

Good evening, more and more am I seeing couple opting for “No posts to Social Media until the evening reception”, one my friends actually stated this on their invitation to us for their September wedding, and I couldn’t agree more.

Patrick from Sheraton Athlone Hotel has created this infographic on what is deemed as good practice at weddings during the height of all the Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Instagram to name a few!). Anyway, why would you bother checking your Instagram likes every five minutes instead of enjoying your wedding?
