A Vintage Birmingham and Sinatra Filled Wedding – Beverley & JT

JR2A7469

Today’s tattooed bride Beverley contacted Marry Me Ink directly when she got got married to Jason at The Westmead Hotel in Hopwood, Birmingham. I contacted Wendy Marie Photography to see more details from their big day, including vintage hair and make up from Le Keux Vintage Salon and couldn’t wait to share them with you!

JT and I both met through a mutual friend and our interest in motorbiking. However, little did I know I would be marrying into an existing marriage of sorts… That is JT and his best man Breeny are more commonly known as “JT and wifey” – a comical relationship made up of bickering, bacon sandwiches and “Have you rolled the fags yet?”. The standing joke on the big day itself was that I’d stolen JT from Breeny (The photos towards the end of the night show them both looking into each other’s eyes whilst I toasted my whisky on my success!)

We were really able to express ourselves through the music of the ceremony, starting with Frank Sinatra’s “Have you met Miss Jones” (my maiden name) and our exit to AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”, through how we were able to decorate the wedding breakfast. We also shared our first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “Witchcraft”. We had lessons to dance a foxtrot! (I also had witchcraft linking in with my sleeve tattoo representing the Wiccan wheel of the year).

For me, the highlight of our day was the moment of becoming Jason’s missus…. and Jason said it was seeing me coming down the aisle – I will never forget him mouthing “wow” when he saw me.

Most Curious 2016 – The Wedding Show For The Style Savvy Couple

MostCurious2016shoot_23842Natalie J Weddings

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you the awesome A Most Curious Wedding Fair.. It’s a wedding show full of style, colour and is just awesome! There are two locations over the next fortnight where fabulous suppliers will be waiting to meet you!

MostCurious2016shoot_23969

Founder Becky Hoh-Hale, got married in 2008 just before the vintage explosion, so struggled with even getting a caterer who would serve food ‘on old plates’. So what followed was a now familiar story, but slightly pioneering at the time, of Becky collecting all her own vintage china, making her own bunting, backdrops and tablecloths and sourcing props that were unique to her and and her husband and were of course ‘vintage’. This lead to her hiring out the pieces after her wedding to other like minded, and time-short brides who may not have the time or inclination to collect every thing they needed, under the name A Most Curious Party. That’s old news now, with a whole host of stories like that in the wedding industry, but Becky took it one step further. Following a disheartening spate of exhibiting at wedding shows with her wares, Becky realised the same pioneer spirit could be applied to wedding fairs and she might just be the girl to do it. Most Curious, the wedding show for the style-savvy couple was born.

Just as A Most Curious Party started as offering couples something that fit with their everyday lifestyle loves (a beautiful, slick version of it of course) Most Curious now unites trend aware and directional suppliers with the free and forward thinking couples who want their wedding day to be as design and fashion led as the rest of their lives, as free spirited and wild as their love and not particularly subscribing to a hugely traditional aesthetic for their big day, just what they love – but focused down into a wonderful 24 hour production!

A Colourful, Romantic, Piñata Filled Wedding In Mexico – Jeni & Oscar

I have been waiting what seems like forever to feature tattooed bride Jeni and her husband Oscar’s wedding from the awesome photo and video husband and wife team Nick and Maria of Studio 1208. I absolutely love them both and when Maria contacted me about her friend (Jeni) who got married at a fab villa in Mexico, I obviously had to feature is ASAP!

details_094

Well, we first met 16 years ago. I was 19 and he was 23 and dating my friend. (Just like any normal 19 year old, I let her know that when she was done with him I would be ready for my chance!) We hit it off and had way too much fun together (The poor guy was trying to finish college and I was in Party Girl mode). We dated for about 6 months and then I moved away. He went on to travel and work in Europe and I went and did my own thing, dated other guys etc. During those 14 years apart, I always thought about him.

We were never in love when I was 19, I was too young to even know what that was, but we had something special and I always hoped we would reunite (At least just to say “Hi”)

Fast forward, I’m 33 and getting separated from my then husband. Literally the same week Oscar, out of nowhere, popped up on my Instagram (I didn’t even know I was following him!) He was in my town and I immediately messaged him. One week later we made plans to meet up and grab a drink. I was so excited to just see my old friend, I didn’t expect what would happen next. He walked into that bar, gave me that famous hug and I literally melted. That’s when it all started. Ten months later he proposed and ten months after that I married him in Mexico. (Ten months after that I’m pregnant.. I think you know what happens ten months after that!) He is truly my soulmate. Our fate was strong enough and it brought us back together – Where we belong.

The details from our wedding were colorful, Spanish and romantic. We had a HUGE custom pink heart shaped piñata made that hung above us whilst we exchanged vows. That big heart truly represents our love. As for DIY –  my sister in law dipped old wime bottles in gold glitter which were used as candle holders down the centre of the tables. They were absolutely perfect!

Oh My Honey 2016 Bridal Collection

fleming-photo-ohmyhoney-conffetti-collaboration-27

About ten days ago, Marry Me Ink was invited to the Oh My Honey 2016 Bridal Collection launch in Brighton. I RSVP’d straight away and had the most wonderful time. As well as getting to see Louise’s gorgeous 50s inspired bridalwear, I got to meet the lovely Lex of Fleming Photo. Lex gots to photograph the Oh My Honey look book this year and, as well, photographed this fab seaside shoot, filled with beautiful wedding flowers by Bettie Rose, that I’m getting to share with you today. I got the chance to chat with both Louise and Lex about the new Oh My Honey bridal collection and the ideas behind the shoot.

I first met Louise around 5 years ago when we worked together on a pinup style shoot with her first bridal collection. After a couple of years of bumping into her at wedding fairs and events, we started a pretty un-official collaboration team aka every time I want to do a shoot, Louise is the first person I contact! I love her general ethos towards business and her imagining and we’re usually totally on the same page with how we want things to look or feel. That’s why when Louise asked if I’d shoot her new bridal range, I jumped at the chance!

We ended up shooting over 2 days; the first being the lookbook and then the 2nd being our Brighton beach confetti styled shoot. I came up with the idea one evening having spent days looking at pretty confetti shoots. So I suggested staying over (ala with no alcohol as I did Dry January for charity!) but we nicknamed it #48hourbridalfest!

I knew I wanted really alternative babes as our brides and it fell into place that we ended up with 3 girls with awesome coloured hair! It’s a great contrast and shows that all types of brides where Louise’s dresses, from beautiful vintage brides to awesome, tattooed alternative brides!

I love visiting Brighton and the weddings I shoot in Brighton are always really colourful, you can’t go wrong with the beach! I really wanted to incorporate Marina Drive and its iconic mint green railings as much as I could.

The original plan was these fun, action shots of confetti but that quickly changed when after 4 confetti cannons that blew off into the sea instantly, so instead we changed tactics to just have fun with the girls despite the horrendous chill!

It was also a great chance to show the new Crown & Glory headpieces and it looks awesome on the girls coloured hair!
