Accessories Ahoy! Friday 10th February 2012: Dolly Cool

“Cool Jewels For Rockin’ Gals!”

Welcome to a new fortnightly post for Marry Me Ink!.. To which I’ll be focusing on alternative accessories for the tattooed lady!

In celebration of Dolly Cool‘s third birthday this week (and because Clare is awesome!) I though why not feature some of her wonderful range on the site?!!

Dolly Cool is inspired on Clare’s love of Rockabilly, Tattoos and the 50s – What’s not to love?!! All jewellery is hand drawn & coloured on hard wearing plastic and then attached to silver plated low-nickel

Seriously – I am totally in love with the new Skele & Spotty Owl range! (And of course the awesome anchor & sailor octopus!)

They’re so cute!

Clare is based just around the corner from me (how convenient?!) in Manchester, where she designs, produces and hand embroiders all her products.

EVERYTHING is Clare’s own work! (How fantastic are her products?!!)

The fun “Candy Cool” range – 1″ tiles on 16″ silver plated chains

As well as gorgeous jewellery, Clare also creates wonderful hair pieces and ties:

How awesome right?!!

You can find Clare on her stall at this year’s Tattoo Tea Party weekend in Manchester on the 3rd & 4th of March.

Visit www.dollycool.co.uk to see a full range of products (I selected a couple of my favourites) and like the facebook page.

You can also see the Inked Up shoot I did in Manchester using Dolly Cool’s Skully Russian Doll range here!

Clint & Rae’s Turquoise & Red Wedding – Day Two [Tattooed Bride Blog]

We met at a local coffee house, I was actually dating one of Rae’s friends at the time. About a year later we ran into each other again and Rae started working for my dad, the rest is history.” – Clint

Welcome to the second day of Clint & Rae’s wedding celebrations! I hope you’re ready for fire breathing, spectacular acts and gorgeous vintage cars? Of course you are! That’s why you’re reading right?

I absolutely love everything about this two day wedding which is why I separated the days into two posts – so you could take it all in & enjoy it as much as I do!

I asked Rae to let us in on why they chose to have a second celebration..
The idea for day two was to simply party it up celebrate and not worry about anything! We incorporated some old cars to fit in with the 1950’s theme.
As Mike was photographing us by the fence I remember the old historic train chugging by with the horn blowing.  The whole train packed with people waving to the whole wedding party on the patio! It was absolutely out of a freakin movie.

Around 8:00 we had Old City Side show perform…this was insane!  We had seen them two times before and Clint had the idea to see if they do weddings.  We all gathered in the church, everyone filled the pews.  There were all kinds of nasty little scenes which I wont go into to much detail about, you gotta go see them.

At the intermission of the show a bunch of the guests left to go dance and outside apparently there were fireworks! I found this out weeks later they were being set off by someone else… so there was something for everyone. We had a kiosk style juke box with 2500 songs preloaded so all the guests could select what they wanted to listen to.

Saturday was exactly what I wanted there was no stress! No formalities!  We got a chance to show people how doing things outside the box can be amazing and fulfilling.  Clint and I maintained the mentality that our wedding was for us and no one else.  With the support of our parents and siblings they made our dreams unfold.  We thank all involved, a true life experience.

Aren’t they just fantastic! Be sure to leave all your lovely comments for Rae & Clint. And again.. HUGE thanks for Mike at Allebach Photography and the gorgeous couple for allowing me to feature this epic two day wedding!

The Turquoise & Red Two Day Tattooed Wedding – Clint & Rae [The Tattooed Bride Blog]

These next two weeks on Marry Me Ink I will be featuring the wedding of Clint and Rae that lasted over two days! When Mike of Allebach Photography got in contact with me with a link to this wedding – just seeing day one of their wedding was enough!

I’m going to hand straight over to Rae to tell you all about her experience of choosing her wedding dress – I totally love this story!

Rachael, I am so honored you guys are featuring the wedding 😉 it truly was the best two days of my life and an unforgettable experience!
I want to tell you the story of my tattoo from the day I picked the dress out..

Ok so the day I went to pick out my Wedding Gown…. I was very nervous. I knew I would find the one dress for me but I was nervous because this was the first time any of my family would see my half sleeve. I had just finished it about 2 weeks prior. I was ready though for weeks wearing long sleeved shirts I needed it to be seen!
My grandmother who I call “Gram” is a traditional Italian woman. I didn’t want to upset her on this momentous day.

So i try on the first dress… No one said a word about the tattoo..
Then the second dress…
Finally the third dress and I hear “That dress looks great with your tattoo” My grandmother picked the dress.

Not only was I so happy with her reaction (and relieved), I absolutely fell in love with the dress and knew it was the one. I saw a tear from my mother and mother in law and in that moment knew that all would be alright. They accepted my artwork because they love me and all that is me, including my new tattoo.

Later at my bachelorette party I explained to my mother the meaning behind the tattoo..

The ship reminds me of my Gram and Pop helping me to sail in life (also Pop was a Sailor in the service)… The Birds are my dad and sister helping me fly away… The water is Clint, my husband, constantly around me in motion… My mother the anchor in my life and the rose has a very special meaning to her, lastly me… The mermaid with big fake boobs surrounded by the people that have truly impacted my life forever.

My mother and I cried that night. Now feeling elated with the tattoo and my own diverse nature I could be proud of my decision.

The wedding was a success but the tattoo made it unique and definable.

I love the story behind the tattoo and doesn’t it look gorgeous?!! Do leave some love for Mike who let me use the images of Clint & Rae’s special day!
Be sure to head back on Thursday next week to hear and see what awesomeness happened on day two of their wedding celebrations!
