The Ballet Bride – A Woolly Bridal Shoot On The Misty Moors

Tux & Tales Photography_9372

Marry Me Ink loves everything from Tux & Tales Photography – So when Jaye and Matt asked me if they could borrow my African Pygmy Hedgehog Alfred for a ballerina bridal shoot, I just had to let him be part of it!

Tux & Tales Photography_9249Yep – That’s Alfred!

The shoot took place last March on the misty moors of East Yorkshire at Danby Castle – Esk Valley Weddings. With real-life couple Gemma and Matt and pastel pretty Diablo Rose, they all look so beautiful in their wooly jumpers, tulle skirts and the finely loomed wool wedding dress from Makepiece in Hebden Bridge.

With styling from Rosy Apple Creations and gorgeous flowers from Firenza Floral Design, Danby Castle looked absolutely breathtaking. I had the chance to speak to Jaye of Tux & Tales Photography about her creating this bridal inspiration shoot.

The theme of the shoot was wool, tulle & wood – a sumptuous and eclectic mix of earthy and tactile sensations. Each element represented something personal that I love – be it knitting, animals or dance. When we work to style a shoot we are always reaching to do something just a little bit different – to show brides that they really can make their wedding as personal and as unique as they want it to be.

Marry Me Ink gets to share with you this gorgeous, vintage and tattooed style bridal shoot as part of the Traveling Dress Project from Soft Elegance Photography.

The Traveling Dress Project - Soft Elegance Photography - Marrymeink (6)

The Travelling Dress Project is a collaborative project created by Gianella Simon from Minnesota. After purchasing this beautiful dress from a second hand store, Gianella had the brilliant idea to have it photographed by photographers from around the world and so the Traveling Dress Project was born.

The dress began its travels in September 2014 and is still travelling with an estimated end date of December 2015. By the end of its journey it will have travelled across the United States and made its way across Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and more with over a hundred photographers involved. Each photographer will have the opportunity to capture the dress in their own unique style and vision. The project will culminate with a book release sharing the journey the dress has made around the world. Proceeds will benefit Operation Smile! Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.

We are incredibly lucky to be a part of such an amazing project which is bringing awareness to a very special cause, challenging creatives, and bringing international and local photographers together. When I saw this beautifully delicate lace wedding dress I just had to shoot it! In a beautiful field of greenery towards the outskirts of San Antonio was a tattooed beauty with a stylish mane in a delicate lace wedding dress. Peace and balance followed at her heels.

Love Letters – Sunshine And Windmills

MMI_4725

Today I get to introduce you to Brett & Mina. An awesome couple getting married in November and have the awesome Dan Hough Photography there to capture it all!

MMI_4733

I first met Brett at a festival in Florida – in October 2010. This is a little bit of a contentious issue as we met through a group of his friends who had travelled from Cleveland, Ohio – who I all became great friends with, apart from him! We loosely kept in touch over the next few years, got to know each other better when I returned to the same festival in 2013, sang along to our favourite bands together and had a great time.

The subsequent intermittent and conservative conservation continued until the summer of 2014, when we spoke of returning for the same thing that year – I had already planned to fly to New York for 5 days beforehand, then down the country to Florida to meet him, as well as my other Cleveland friends. A few weeks beforehand, Brett changed his flights to join me in NYC – I often joke our first date was actually a two week holiday! Despite the risks I knew it was the right thing to do, and I’ve never once regretted that decision. After this we navigated the time difference and distance with late night FaceTime conversations and messages, then Brett finally booked flights before Christmas to join me here for three months from March, which have been perfect – we’ve travelled to Ireland, Belgium, and all around the UK (I even satisfied Brett’s inexplicable desire to visit Stonehenge) and back to his hometown of Cleveland, OH, just last week.
