I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For ICE CREAM!

MMI_2915

Today is all about this adorable pastel-infused bridal shoot from Kat Forsyth Photography that Gwenda of The Vintage Floral Design Co. shared with Marry Me Ink at Blooming Green in Kent.

When Kat shared with me her idea for a pastel-infused, retro shoot filled with ice-cream goodness, I could immediately envisage how it could be brought to life!

I brought together a team of contributors, most of whom I have worked with many times previously and knew would be on board with the theme. Our collection of models, three gorgeous girls and two handsome guys, gave us a full wedding party of Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids and Best Man to work with.

Blooming Green is such a special place – every time I go there to source and hand-pick blooms for my work I can’t help but fall in love with it a little more. Jen & Bex indulged me the use of their plot for this shoot and every arrangement I made is made exclusively from their organically-grown flowers. I chose an array of colours, from pastels through to their brighter and bolder counterparts, to stand out against the pale colours of the dresses.

Kat’s photos encapsulated the spirit of the day perfectly: “Summery, retro ice cream pastels were the key theme for this shoot, so despite a rather drizzly, blustery day I tried to infuse the pictures with a little sunshine and warm tones. Lots of natural laughter and happy, ice cream cone eating shots were the order of the day – I really wanted everyone to look like they were just having fun, which we were (while being incredibly stylish at the same time!)”

A Colourful, Vintage Pavilion Wedding In Birmingham – Holly & Neal

_DSC5434

Today’s wedding features all of my favourite things – a tattooed bride and groom, a vintage salon, lots of colour and lots of fun! Holly and Neal were married at Joseph & St Helen Catholic Church and later on celebrated at Rowheath Pavilion in Birmingham. Holly wore a gorgeous vintage dress and her hair and make up was done by the wonderful Le Keux Vintage Salon in The Custard Factory. And that’s not it.. There’s plenty more to hear about the wedding with photography from By Garazi.

We met in April 2003 when we started nurse training.  We met through another Student Nurse called Lee and we became a close little group (the three alternative students in our intake) who spent all our uni time together and would meet up ‘in town’ at the weekend. There was chemistry from the start, Lee was never allowed to sit in the middle and would tease us the ‘you could cut the sexual chemistry with a knife!’. We always denied that we fancied each other even though we obviously did, probably much to the annoyance of our actual partners!! Towards the end of my relationship, I (very naughtily) kissed him one night when we were out drinking. It was the best kiss I had ever had and, although I became single soon after that, it somehow just didn’t fit.  We (he) decided that we couldn’t be friends and we didn’t see or speak to each other for about 3 years.  That drunken kiss had placed Neil in the back of my mind and when other relationships failed I would always think about him and miss him and tried to figure out why it hadn’t worked out for us.

At some point about 3.5 years ago, we started talking via Facebook and kept planning to meet but he would keep cancelling on me last minute!  We were texting a lot and eventually when we did met up we were both single, a bit more grown up and it just fell into place.  I’ve never been happier.

The highlight of the day is hard to pinpoint because the whole day was fabulous!  But there was a special moment for me.  After I had got out of the car, walked up the Church steps into the back of the Church, I got a glimpse of Neil stood at the alter waiting for me and my nerves and stress melted away.  Everything that had lead up to that point I knew had been worth it and I just wanted to run down the aisle and be standing there with him.

I loved every minute of the Church service.  The Priest had us all laughing throughout the service and my family had arranged some live Irish music as a surprise.  I just loved it all and had lots of fun (which I hadn’t really expected to). Also, I am a Catholic and all of my Holy Sacraments had been at the Church.  I went to the school associated with the Church, I saw my mother marry there and I have said goodbye to loved ones there so to get married there was emotional.

The Unicorn And The Dinosaur – Lindsey & Andy

Lindsey & Andy 045 - MMI - Amy Faith Photography

Remember that sneak peek on the Marry Me Ink Facebook page from Amy Faith Photography? Well, today we’re kicking off the week with Lindsey and Andy’s wedding full of little quirks which I find completely awesome – Firstly, the bridesmaids falling about with laughter as the “Game of Thrones”  theme blasted through the doors for them all to walk down the aisle.. That’s just amazing!

We have known each other online for years via a reptile forum. We had seen pictures of each other but never spoken. It was only when in 2012 we both attended a Reptile Show in Kempton Park did we meet face to face. I (Lindsey) was chatting to a few friends. I saw someone looking at me in the corner of my eye but ignored it at first. Then I heard “Lindsey!”. I turned round saying simply “Yes?”. Andy just stood there blushed and said “I’m Andy”. I had recognised him from his pictures but in all honesty I had not quite taken in just how pleasing to the eye he was until he was stood there in front of me. I saw him several times that day and towards the end of the day a mutual friend invited us both to a 3 day long camping BBQ. Knowing Andy was going I made sure I was there. We spent a lot of time talking at the BBQ and we knew we really liked each other. But it wasn’t until later in the year we got together. Our first date was at the Natural History Museum in London followed by Sushi.

The following Easter Andy proposed on a bridge over a lake in Southport. I was looking out at the water, he sneaked up behind me holding a toy gun to my head and whispered “Marry me, or else!” Well, how can a girl refuse an offer like that? Although it was a wooden slat bridge and he refused to give me the ring for a while as he was scared I was going to drop it into the water. He did though, with onlookers smiling and saying congratulations.

The unicorn and dinosaur on top of the cake – They literally represent us. There were several references to dinosaurs and unicorns without going OTT. But mostly it was just that we didn’t do anything we didn’t want to do and we kept the bits we liked. For example, no sit down meal but rather a hog roast.

We first met 8 years ago on new year’s eve at a local pub. We became close friends but after a couple of years, drifted apart and met different people – Even though it seemed everyone around could see we would be perfect together! After my relationship ended, I started to see little reminders of James everywhere. Despite having lived in the same small village, and even over the road from him at one point, I hadn’t seen him more than twice in the whole 5/6 years we weren’t talking!
