2013-10-06_0055

Today I get to share with you an awesome couple who had everything from sunflowers, polka dots, a retro car, super stylish sunglasses and lots of rockabilly music!

Although we were from the same town, he had moved away years ago. I had seen him about Banbury town though so although we hadn’t officially met when we were talking online, we weren’t complete strangers.

It took a little while, but we eventually got chatting every day and then texting and decided to finally meet in Banbury.  He met me at the train station and I was so nervous I had already pretty much downed half a bottle of vodka! See me and Vanien are quite simple folk we don’t need fancy restaurants etc. we love our music and it was a beautiful day so we thought for our first date we would go and sit in a field listening to punk music drinking cider… We were also wearing Christmas hats in the middle of summer, it was love!

A Backyard Wedding With The Bride In Blue – Curtis & Bailie

2013-09-17_0027

“We wanted the entire wedding to really focus on the fact that our relationship existed with the constant nourishment of our family and friends”

2013-09-17_0037

Firstly, Bailie is in a gorgeous blue Betsey Johnson dress. Secondly, Curtis is wearing chequered Vans. Thirdly, these gorgeous photos were taken by One O.A.K Photography! What else is there that can make this wedding more awesome? Their reception took place on the roof of the Lincoln Centre!

My husband, Curtis and I met when he tattooed me.  After spending numerous hours together, we found out that we had a lot in common.  We ended up running into one another every single night for two weeks straight after that, so I guess our relationship just naturally formed from that.

The highlight of our wedding day was riding a borrowed tandem bicycle with my husband from our home to the reception in my wedding dress. It was a special time that we were able to enjoy as a couple before being surrounded by everyone again, and was a funny sight to see I’m sure.

“We kept things true to who we were… From the decorations to the custom invitation to the vegan food, it was all things we loved.”

The morning before the wedding, my husband and I decorated the yard and house with different items I had made using vintage ribbons, tablecloths and antiques of my grandmothers as well as lots of paper and flower bunting. I had the most fun setting up oversized paper flowers around the backyard…it looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland.

A Vegan, Down To Earth Wedding – Dea & Dominik

2013-08-30_0038Photography credit: Sergio Stiletto – Lucky Lola Shop

Today I get to share something pretty awesome with you. You may remember Dea from a previous post where I got to interview her about her gorgeous tattoos and artwork here. Well, she got married!!

2013-08-30_0016

The part which represented us as a couple I think was the leaned back atmosphere. We had a camp fire, singer songwriter music and an open air location with a vegetarian/vegan buffet with a vegan wedding cake! We were surprised and pleased how happy everyone was with our decision not to have meat on the menu.

2013-08-30_0003

We put together all of the decoration elements such as bows and garlands. As our western-inspired outdoor location was already so pretty and romantic, we didn’t have to add too much stuff.

A Thrift And Homespun Wedding – Jess & Leon

5 Leon&JessicaWedding-341

“We did reconnect again in 2005 at a friends party and have been at each other’s side since then.. Well most of the time if there is not one of our delightful bulldogs Daphne or Doris sandwiched between us!”

Today I get to share the sweet story of Jess & Leon who were married at Melville Nurseries in Perth and then went on to celebrate at Padbury Stables, Rosehill Lodge with wonderful photography from Christine Lim.

I have always been a little bit of a “collector”, Leon throws around the “H” word (hoarder) a little too loosely, so I have collected loads of bits and pieces over the years and it actually worked out perfectly because we packed up the whole house and decorated both the venues with it all – it couldn’t have looked more perfect and “us”.

“We wanted guests to walk in and feel like they were celebrating our love in its entirety over the 8 years we were together, not just one special day .”

We did everything for the wedding – I went into total crazy DIY lady mode! Everything was hand picked and handmade from the furniture, props and pretties to the pom-poms, favours and wedding cake. Looking back I enjoyed every single moment of sticking, stitching and baking  – thou it would be a lie to say it wasn’t challenging at times the warmth from the glow of happiness on everyone’s faces was worth every second of crafting.
