The latest instalment of tattooed bride inspiration is full of bright colours, Dr Martens and that “Riot edge” – It must be the 90s! The look and feel of the shoot was created by a great team of wedding suppliers including Jez Brown Photography, Sarah’s Doo Wop Dos and Restoration Cake. I got the chance to speak to Sarah who created Keely’s 90s look about what went on on the day.
As a hair and make-up artist I’m aways hearing from my brides that they want to look like the best version of themselves for their big day, so this is really where the shoot idea came from, building a styled shoot around the model’s own style.
Our model, Keely, has a great 90s vibe and always wears her hair up, so I wanted to create a look that she might actually wear on her wedding day. I opted for a big, tousled bun and a smokey eye with dramatic winged liner and a soft lip for a fun look with a bit of a 90s ‘riot girl’ edge. The clothing came from Keely’s own wardrobe and I really wanted to add some colour into her outfit, plus who doesn’t love sequins at a wedding!
Other parts of the shoot were influenced by Keely’s tattoos and Charlotte White of Restoration cake made a beautiful bright wedding cake with a mandala tattoo design that echoed Keely’s own ink.
The flowers were created Sara Sayer at Kooky Magpie who made us two striking pieces – a fantastic bright bouquet and a show-stopping hair piece.
Our photographer was Jez Brown, someone I have worked with a lot over the last few years and he is fantastic with natural light so we decided to shoot outside and look for backdrops that would really pull the whole look together.
How amazing is this Riot Edge 90s wedding inspiration? I’m in love with tattooed bride Keely’s sequin crop top and Restoration Cake‘s mandala tiered cake. Make sure you share it, pin it and leave the the creative team some love.
