Love Letters – A 1960s England Shoot

2014.12: AH & RB - e-Shoot

Today on Marry Me Ink I get to share with you this fab engagement shoot of two 1960s lovers Andrea and Rob from WTF4 Photography.

As Andrea and Rob are both fans of the fashion and style of 1960s England (as you can see from their amazing outfits and the inclusion of their much loved Mini and Scooter) photographer Matt wanted to try as much as possible to give their e-shoot that kind of feel. He scouted a number of locations in Swindon (where they live) to find areas that it would not detract from that goal. Matt got some great images from this shoot!

Rob and I met online, I stumbled across his profile and even though I thought “He’s way too cool to be interested in me” I thought I’d try my luck and ‘liked’ his profile (or whatever it is you do on these sites to show interest) and he messaged me back that day, part of the message included a rude joke in response to something I had on my profile…. I knew our sense of humour would work from that moment on!

When we met, I lived in Bristol and Rob in Swindon (about 50 miles away) so we did a lot of travelling back and forth, I’ve almost doubled the mileage on my old classic mini since we met. He was worth all the bouncy trips down the motorway though! 9 months later I moved in (so the car gets a slightly easier time now!)

A Simple, Sweet, Retro Rock’n’Roll Wedding – Chris & Tristan

MMI_3661

What’s better than a Rock ‘n Roll wedding? I think getting married by the King is something special, that’s exactly exactly what Chris and Tristan did when they got married! With a custom dress from Dolly Couture and photography from Jessica Branstetter, I am in love with this retro wedding!

MMI_3676

We met online. A fateful friend’s request on MySpace. I was a little hesitant because he was a bit younger than me, but he was cute so I accepted. I messaged him saying I wasn’t on MySpace often, so he asked for my number. A few days later he called me. During the conversation I discovered he was still in high school, meaning he’d fibbed about his age on his profile two years. I wasn’t sure what to think, being twenty-three and living on my own… He was surprisingly charming, assuring me he always had a thing for “older women”. Haha. Like I said, he was cute, so…  That’s how we initially met.

We had Elvis style vows performed. Promising to not have “suspicious minds” and not to be a “hound dog”… To “love each other tender…” etc. I know Chris and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Several people told me they were either laughing or crying or both! It was lovely and light-hearted. Just what I wanted.

Edwards & Millers Lingerie – Bra-ving The Gap In The Market

MMI_3844

Last week something very exciting happened in the world of lingerie. For those women who have smaller backs in comparison to their large bust – Edwards & Millers Lingerie launched it’s brand new collection on the 4th March!

Edwards & Millers is the brainchild of Tracy Durrant who grew up inspired by the seamstress skills of both of her Jamaican born grandmothers (named Edwards & Millers) as well as having her own passion for lingerie and luxury fabrics.  Tracy noticed a distinct gap in the market in 2008 when she started a blog while at university to help women with a large bust but a small back (like herself) seek out good looking lingerie, swimwear and clothing.  Tracy struggled time and again to find high quality suitable garments that were suitably cut, fitted properly, enhanced her figure as well as being beautiful to look at and comfortable to wear.  Her blog soon gained momentum with a steady stream of followers signing up to learn more.  Tracy further developed her passion for lingerie by taking up short courses, sampling and reading books on the subject.  As demonstrated by her followers and her own research there was potential to develop a specialist collection of lingerie for this gap in the market so she decided to take the skill of her grandmothers, her own sentiment for lingerie and combine it with her Jamaican heritage to bring her brand, Edwards & Millers to fruition. In 2012 Tracy applied to the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme and was given a grant along with relevant mentoring.

This launch is the culmination of these efforts and will present the first collection of its kind.  It is inspired by the colours of the stones and shells found on the Jamaican beaches, appropriately named Jewels of Jamaica. It comprises of four pieces, each combining luxury materials and trims with specialist undetectable support and hidden panels as well as clever new innovative fabrics such as Powernet which incorporates a one-way stretch used in shapewear. Each piece has been meticulously designed and crafted to perfection, to enhance curves so the wearer will feel comfortable, confident and glamorous.  The range includes the Addessa bra and knickers, the Celita Teddy and the Edina Slip.

Conducting her own research through her blog, Tracy can confirm that women need to turn to niche brands to get what they need from their lingerie.  She also collated the bra sizes of her blog followers and found they were heavily weighted on large cup sizes and small back sizes.

Tracy says: “I believe it is time to re-examine women’s bust and back measurements to ensure all women of all shapes and sizes can have the option of luxury lingerie.  It’s great that many retailers have improved their size range but the big busted, small backed women have seen little development in lingerie and clothing over the last 10 years, still left with the same limited option each year.  Through Edwards & Millers I would like to start providing more options for these women.

I can’t wait to see more of Tracy is creating for Edwards & Millers! Make sure you create your account online here and follow their updates on Facebook too!

A Modern Gastby Wedding – Alicia & Tyler

IMG_9369

It’s Friday! And to round off the week, I get to share with you Alica and Tyler’s modern Gatsby wedding from Kristel Collins Photography. The gorgeous venue for their wedding I hear you ask? The Life Arts Centre – Full of amazing banquet halls in downtown Riverside, CA.  Kristel wore a gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress too!

We met at the age of 15 in youth group… We began dating in our Freshman year of High School but we eventually separated. We then found our way back to each other when we were 24 and have been inseparable ever since.

The highlight of our wedding day for me, was walking down the aisle… That is the one moment I had dreamed about since Tyler proposed. I just couldn’t wait to see his face! Even though we’d been dating on and off for about 14 years, I still had butterflies during that moment.
